We are located in the humid subtropical forest with thriving insect and wildlife communities. We do not spray RoundUp, insecticides, or pesticides in or around the house but use boric tablets and eco-friendly bug repellants to keep the bugs away. Our approach to bug management is integrative - keep everything outstandingly clean, seal all known crevices, use natural bug repellants, and address issues as they occur. Pollinators are frequent in our yard, and you can see many fireflies in the summer. Palmetto Bugs, spiders, millipedes, centipedes, bees, flies, mosquitos, and ants are all common. Raleigh is #1 city in the country for snake bites, so always watch your step as this entire area has a huge population of Copperhead snakes. We have never seen any in our yard, but please be aware of them for yourself, your children, and any potential pets. It is best to avoid heavy grassy areas and piles of leaves.
