The Treehouse Cabana is one of only 3 units of Casa Akasha, a cute small tropical private property with pool only 2 blocks from the lagoon. The location is perfect to explore Bacalar since you can basically walk everywhere: to the lagoon, the market, the center and even a great Arts Center a couple of blocks away. The cabaña is hidden by trees and features a private little terrace, two powerful fans and a minifridge, to ensure rest and comfort in this typical rural Mayan structure. The space Casa Akasha has the perfect location to stay in Bacalar: a five-minute walk to the best public spot of the lagoon, a ten-minute walk to the market and centre. The treehouse cabaña is the most secluded, private and magical spot in Casa Akasha. It is the only unit situated on the first floor and it is completely immersed in the shadow of beautiful old trees. One of these trees is a Ceiba, the Mayan sacred tree. You have a private terrace and outdoor wooden path which you can use to read and relax when you need shadow and a break from a day in the lagoon. The terrace also has a lovely private tub (a tiny pool) where you can refresh (no hot water, but you won't need it most of the year), have a drink and watch the stars at night. The room has a comfortable queen mattress, two powerful fans, a minimalistic closet, a mini fridge, a coffee machine, cups and a spacious bathroom with hot shower with good pressure. Please notice the Treehouse Cabana does not have air conditioning! It is newly built, but following traditional ways to build. It provides a fascinating experience but please make sure you understand that in the summer it can get hot and there might be little insects. We do everything that needs to be done to keep them out, and they are tiny little things that won't harm anyone, but make sure you know you are booking a traditional Mayan-style cabana so encountering a little wild life from time to time (if you are lucky enough) might happen. Please remember YOU ARE VISITING A TROPICAL AREA! :) If you prefer a more typical setting for your stay in Bacalar, you can check our two apartments Ceiba and Bugambilia, on the same property: they have concrete ceilings and a/c! Guest access Apart from your private facilities, you can also use the pool, the hammock and the big table in the garden, they are all common facilities. Other things to note Casa Akasha is a private holiday home, which we (Michela and Gerardo, two friends who fell in love with Bacalar) built with love and effort, and that we are happy to share with our guests. It is not perfect, but it is spotless clean and designed and furnished with love... It is actually very cute if you like our minimalistic, organic style. If you are looking for a extra luxurious place, this is not is. It is comfortable and lovely but simple. What makes it special is the location and the garden. We did not tear down a single tree and you can definitely feel it in our little peaceful oasis. Also, the neighbors have roosters. Like most people in Bacalar. Please, when you visit these towns remember that that is how people live here: having a rooster or other animals is normal :)
