It is less than an hour's drive from our home in downtown Austin, but it felt like a million miles. The house is beautifully appointed, comfortable, and perfect for a four-person getaway. As we enjoyed cocktails and hors-d'oeuvres on the large patio, we marvelled at the silence and the dark skies. I felt like I was one with nature. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything I needed. I even used the gas grill over the green egg to outdoor cook. For mid January the weather was perfect and there was an outdoor heater that we didn’t need to use. There is also a fire pit closer to the pond down the stone steps and the owner provided wood. I did meet the owner that lives next door and she was nice and asked me if we needed anything to holler in which we were all good. I told her how much I loved her place and that I would book again for sure. They didn’t hover over my son and I and let us be private. The location is about 5 miles north of town so it was nice and quiet on 10 acres and you could see stars super bright. A few steps down to the small, clear lake with paddle boats and SUPs. We had a two year old with us and great space to run and play, minimalist design = very little to bump into or break! The owners live next door, friendly folks but still plenty of privacy with the way main and guesthouse are laid out. Would book again in a heartbeat. My husband and I (with our two boys) desperately needed a weekend getaway and this place was heaven. The kitchen was fully equipped and made cooking a breeze. The beds and linens were so comfortable. Our favorite part was the outdoor space which was gorgeous. We can’t wait to return and don’t plan on staying anywhere else in the area! The property owners are next door, but you would never know it, unless you have the privilege of having them grab paddle boats, extra grills, wood for grilling/fire pit, as we did. We normally never enjoy beds even in 5 star resorts, but the beds here were super comfy and the sheets/towels were clean and of hotel quality. The kitchen was wonderful for entertainment as well as the patio. We love that we could hook our iPhone up to the receiver for music inside and outside. We’ve visited many wonderful homes over the past year between Wimberley and Canyon Lake.
