Uniquely designed, our cozy, light-filled one-bedroom home has a southwestern feel with rounded archways, thick Persian rugs, and beautiful art. Ideal for couples seeking a retreat or those who need to work remotely. The house is stone’s throw from downtown Montpelier, home to the Bohemian Bakery, the best cafe this side of Paris! Hubbard Park's 7 miles of trails is around the corner. Up our street are glorious views and FREE groomed nordic ski trails. Downhill skiing is a short drive away. The space This house is a gem! We should know because we actually live here (when we are not traveling). The main living space has a split-level ceiling that make it feel open and airy. A plush couch, hardwood floors, books, and plants adorn the downstairs. The fully equipped kitchen includes a Kitchenaid mixer, blender, Cuisinart, French press, microwave, and a variety of cast iron and colorful enamel pots and pans and woks, not to mention an array of spices, oils, fresh ground coffee, and many more stock food items for those who love to cook. There are two dedicated workspaces, one downstairs with an electric Uplift standing/sitting bamboo desk, and another stationary desk upstairs for art and writing. We have a wireless printer that can be connected through Bluetooth to your laptop. We are both writers and book lovers so feel free to peruse our collection but please don't take them home with you. Our 55" LG TV is brand new. You will need to sign into your Netflix or other services. There is one bedroom downstairs with a pine dresser, two distressed handmade pine end tables, a kingsize natural latex bed with an organic mattress cover, an organic handmade warm lightweight wool comforter, percale and sateen sheets, and kingsize deluxe down pillows. It is very comfortable and breathable. Note: the bed is Japanese style—low to the ground—with a sturdy wood frame. The top of the mattress is just one foot above the floor. There is also a walk in closet. We have a full size bathroom with plush Brooklinen towels, ample room in the shower to sit or stand, and a washer/dryer. Please use our detergent and dryer sheets, which are perfume free. Across from the upstairs landing and second office space, we retain a locked room and closet where we put our private belongings when we Airbnb the house. In summer we load our back deck, patio, and front porch with flowers. We just built a new cable railing on our back deck where we eat most of our meals in summer. Our shaded front porch is perfect for morning coffee and we also have another sitting area off the back deck with a sail shade and wicker chairs. There are no lack of spaces to chill in spring, summer and fall. In winter, we take the furniture off the deck and porch areas when it gets too cold to sit outside. Two miles up the road is a fantastic network of free groomed x-country ski trails that will give you a great workout and keep you socially distanced without even trying. This house is not set up for children, babies, or pets. We board our cat when we leave and thoroughly clean and vacuum the place but if you are allergic to cats, please take that into consideration. We believe our home is a step above many Airbnbs because of its character and charm. Guest access There is room for one car in the driveway and parking is also available on the street. In winter, street parking rules get a bit complicated. Please check the City of Montpelier's website for details. The ParkMobile app is required for many spaces in town. But so much is walkable from our house. Also our property includes a front porch, a back deck, and a patio in summer. The fire pit and Green Egg grill are off limits to guests due to fire hazard. Other things to note Our home is designed for a couple or a single person. There is only one bedroom with a kingsize bed.
