Originally a land of extent 175 perches called “Maha Okanda kele” situated in the village of Gonagala pura in Bentota of Bentota Walallawita Korale in the District of Galle, Southern Province. The Village headman Mr. Johannas Abenayake and his wife, a school teacher Mrs. Piyalatha Abenayake and two daughters, Jinadari Dammika Abenayake and Sunethra Nalini Abenayaka, continued into the 19th century in this bungalow. The elder daughter Mrs. Jinadari Dammika Abeynayake and son-in-law Mr. K. W. A. Kumarasinghe received this property as a dowry on their marriage on 1978 and now inherited by Mrs. Jayani Nadeesha Kumarasingha (the first grandchild of the Village Headman). Now She is ready to introduce her bungalow for those who like to feel the Royalty, Sinhalese traditional culture and tranquility. The Bungalow is named “Village Headman’s Bungalow (VHB)” as a respect to her grandfather. The bungalow is located at the middle point of the land. The Shrine room of Load Buddha which increases the serenity lies close by. The bungalow consists of a veranda, office room, a large living room, four bedrooms with bathrooms attached to them, an open veranda, an open courtyard, fully ventilated dining room, a modern kitchen with a service pantry, a traditional Sinhalese kitchen with the collection of utensils, a store room, a servant room with a servant’s bathroom. A well with natural spring water to quench the thirst and a well open to sky to have a natural bath under the sun and moon, The well maintained beautiful garden with Palm trees such as Coconut, Thambili (king coconut), Arecanut, Kithul; and Jak, Breadfruit trees which are favorites dishes in southern area and fruits such as Sour sop, Rambutan, Rose apple, Jackfruit, Guava, Beli, Bilin, Papaya, Madan, Banana make the bungalow a green heaven. The cinnamon plantation around the bungalow brings new experience to the visitors and they can study the process of making cinnamon.
