Our home is a place to relax after the intense experiences of the day, a place to chat while having a beer or two, to rest, watch TV or go for a walk around the neighborhood. From the home, we can help arrange trips and expeditions around the country. These include wildlife safaris, city tours, hiking, white water rafting, kayaking, forest nature walks, horse-riding, fishing trips, mountain bike tours and culture tours. The space Our home is open to both tourists, travelers of all kinds and international volunteers alike. A portion of proceeds got from both tours and travelers staying with us go into supporting projects run by our not-for-profit organization. Visitors and those staying with us are welcome to check on our projects. Mukono town is strategically located between Kampala city (the capital of Uganda) and Jinja city (the adventure capital of East Africa). Mukono is a rapidly expanding city about 45 minutes from Kampala and 60 minutes away from Jinja and about 1:30hrs from Entebbe International Airport. All beds are fitted with good quality mattresses, mosquito nets, cotton sheets and pillows. Most people who stay with us are travelling alone and this provides a perfect opportunity for you to meet others and make plans for traveling around Uganda together with the ones you meet. Furthermore, we offer pre-arrival support by answering your questions about Uganda and if you want to share your skills by volunteering, we find a project that best fits your skills and interests (if you are to volunteer). We offer in-country assistance by collecting you from the airport, getting you to your placement, and unraveling some of the more complicated cultural issues you face when entering Uganda for the first time. Although there are other accommodation facilities in Mukono town, there is no other home like Mukono Travelers’ Home. We have the space and atmosphere for people to relax, have fun, chat, work and watch DVD's. People come from all around the world and stay from days to few weeks with us. During your stay It is not easy to come to a completely foreign culture on your own. We want to be there for you to give you encouragement, advice and support in order for you to get the most out of your holiday or volunteer placement while you are here. Other things to note Favorite past times in Mukono include having a cold beer in one of the rooftop bars, amazing night life at local bars or getting out of town for a day trip. Activities: Uganda is a beautiful and diverse country with Mukono being a gateway to many activities especially in East (transit point to Kenya). Most famously Uganda is known for the amazing Mountain Gorillas and Mt. Rwenzori and Elgon or relaxing on the beautiful Lake Victoria islands.

 Safaris: Safaris are the most obvious and popular attraction, with 1-15 day trips available. Here you can experience the famous gorillas, Murchison falls safaris and Mountain climbing, tours and Mabira forest tours. Small group camping safaris of 4-6 days are the most popular option for our volunteers as they are cost effective and provide an amazing experience of sleeping in the middle of the parks - a memory which will never be forgotten. Other Attractions: There are many weekend trips that can be easily organized once here. These include white water rafting, mountain bike tours, mountain climbing and so many others. An overnight stay at the beautiful shores of river nile or Jinja nightlife and shopping. At Mukono Travelers’ Home, we can assist with organizing any of these activities plus many more.
