The County is known as the Birthplace of rivers and boasts the headwaters of 8 rivers. One of the 8 rivers is the scenic Greenbrier River, located two blocks west and offers memorable kayaking, canoeing, fishing and rafting. Marlinton is the center of the 78-mile Greenbrier Trail for hiking and biking. This trail has been rated one of the top 10 trails in the Nation by the Backpacker Magazine.
