WHY WANGANELLA There is a porthole from the MS Wanganella in the front door of the house- hence the name for the holiday flat. The ship was built in Belfast and used as a passenger ship between Australia and New Zealand from 1933. After World War II it was turned into a hospital ship (1941-1946) and brought back Australian POWs from Borneo in September 1945. One of the POWs wrote of her: “the Wanganella, she rode quietly at anchor unperturbed by wind or tide…..” Discounts and specials advertise DO NOT APPLY to December January and Easter peak periods.
