Romantic Gem in Antwerp’s Historic City Center
This quiet, bijoux loft (65m2) is perfectly located; at 1’ from the 'Grote Markt', the City Hall, the Cathedral and the Scheldt river. You’ll be just a few steps away from great museums, art galleries, restaurants, bars, shops… But be aware! There’s so much to explore —if only you manage to shut the door and leave your cosy nest behind. Can you?! ~;)) Museums: 2' DIVA - Diamonds 5' MoMu - Fashion 10' MAS - Antwerp history 15' MUHKA - Modern Art 20' FOMU - Photography 22’ Central Station The space ‘Op Den Spieghel’ is a newly renovated, fully equipped rooftop aerie/loft with fantastic views out onto this beautiful city, often called the Manhattan of the 16th Century. The building is secure and has a lift. Our small loft (65m2) includes a fully equipped kitchen, a dining/living area, a toilet, a bedroom with queen-sized boxspring bed (feather duvet) and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. The bedroom level has a small Dyson airco, so you can protect yourself from eventual urban soundscapes —In case you’re not used to the inner city-life (think about events like during a full moon e.g. ;)). Artworks of our (sometimes quite renown) friends and a Marshall audio system make it more then just exquisite. Our apartment is an officially registered B&B; we belong to the 3% (!!) legally approved B&Bs in Belgium! In other words: All taxes, safety, security, hygiene, legality, etc. regulations are been taken care about. You (and we!) are absolutely safe! Guest access The whole apartment is at your disposal. The building holds 12 apartments and is very secure. Entrance, hallway, elevator and staircase are of course to be shared. Neighbours —of the whole quarter, actually ~;)) are extremely gentle and always willing to help. And btw: Until now, we always welcomed our guests in person. Let us know if you have special requests (visits to museums, parks, restaurants, events...), so that we can look it up for you. Other things to note This bijoux loft is been completely and lovingly renovated in 2017. Since then it's constantly refreshed and updated. Our aerie is as well equipped with a fine selection of tasteful objects and appliances to assure you a comfortable and tastefully aesthetic stay. (And we would love to keep it that way, of course… ~;)) — PRACTICAL - Taxes: Tourist tax is (as all other taxes) included in your price —No worries; we take care about that. Btw. As mentioned before: Our apartment is one of the very few (only 3% !!!) officially controlled, approved and accredited B&Bs in this country. So, besides paying our taxes correctly, we are also subject to constant checks (as if we were the Hilton) —This is Belgium, ha! =;)). - Peace Of Mind: In other words: You are absolutely safe, and even legally protected during your stay in our bird-nest (one never knows...)! Peace of mind included! - Cooking: The place is fully equipped for slow (and fast) cooks; fridge, induction cooking plate, microwave-oven and all required accessories. Coffee lovers will appreciate a variety of coffee appliances. I provide mostly bio-organic products, including milk, coffee and teas. We also use biodegradable products when possible and recycle all plastic, paper and glass. The electricity is provided by renewable energy from biogas production. - Sleeping: Bedroom (160cm queen-size box-spring mattress with duck feather duvet) has as well a Dyson air-conditioning, so you can close the windows in case you're not used to the urban soundscapes of a vibrant city like ours. (Air plugs available, since one never knows…!) - Scenery: Our little loft looks out onto an alleyway, the nearby 'Pagaddertoren', the Cathedral of Our Lady, several other church towers and the roofs of adjacent buildings. Your intimate bird-nest is really in the very heart of the historical city. - Inner City Life: Please note that even if you are at such a high altitude (overlooking the neighbouring roofs…), you will always notice the typical urban sounds of our beloved city anyway: For example, wandering tourists with an expressive city guide; lost locals calling their beloved with an explanation about their night out; church bells for a wedding, funeral or any other event in one of our churches; busy terraces in cafes and restaurants for a football game, a city parade, a concert, a sailing regatta, even an occasional performance of David Bowie's 'Life on Mars' (or any other song) on the world-famous carillon of our cathedral... - Harmony: In case you really can't get in harmony with the urban soundscape (we perfectly understand this!) you still have a very fine Marshall sound system to adjust the balance. The Stockwell model (as it is found on your Bluetooth device) certainly meets all your musical wishes. The TV + vintage PS2 hopefully helps you to shill by enjoying one of the classic movies or games. - Serenity: In addition, all windows have blackout curtains and there are also excellent earplugs and even mosquito spray available. Fresh flowers and a welcome drink will top it off. — DETAILS Entire apartment (4th + 5th floor) - Elevator to the 4th floor - Spiral staircase to 5th inside the loft - Accommodates 2 guests - 1 Bathroom (bath/shower, hair dryer, shower gel, shampoo, towels available) - 1 WC - 1 Bedroom with a super comfy queen-size (160cm) box-spring mattress (duck feather duvet, sheets, extra blankets, extra pillows) - WiFi - TV (no TV channels... but everything to play with on the Sony Play Station 2 + set of games and an enjoyable DVD collection with classic movies ;-)) - Dyson airco - Cinni fan - Marshall speaker - Fully equipped kitchen - Smoke/Fire detectors - Carbon-monoxide detector - Fire escape map - Fire extinguishers - Fire Blanket - Fire escape stairway - Public car park (underground) at 2min - No smoking - No pets - No parties or events - Not suitable for children (0-12 years) - 2 nights minimum - Check in from 2PM (Sundays 3PM) – Check out before 11AM.
