Feel free to use the boogie boards, snorkel equipment and beach chairs, etc. at the back of the open garage. SUPERB VIEWS! No two days, rainbows or cloud formations are the same. Our position at the top of the hill and end of the cul-de-sac gives you an obstructed, elevated view straight out to the natural wonder of the scenic beauty surrounding us. And being situated on the windward (northeast) side of the island, we are blessed with near-constant "trade winds" which provide a natural cooling breeze that keeps the tropical warmth just perfect. VERY IMPORTANT: Absolutely NO pets and NO smoking permitted. We are situated on a small, quiet residential street surrounded by elderly neighbors who have lived in their homes for many decades. It is essential that our guests are peaceful and respectful of the neighbors. Noise, raucous behavior, events, additional unauthorized occupants, and any guests other than those approved for the reservation are strictly prohibited. We can accommodate Japanese speaking guests as we both speak Japanese. 日本語でもどうぞ。 Guest access You will have the entire main home on this property. There is one other extended stay unit on this property, a studio cottage at the rear of the house. The cottage is completely separated from your space by the shared laundry hallway, so the two units do not directly share walls. The studio may or may not be occupied during your stay. Other things to note CHILDREN The house is not child-proofed, it is situated right up against the jungle, with no barrier between the house and the animal life in the jungle (roosters, wild pigs, centipedes and other insects, etc.), one side of which drops off steeply into the easement drain. So it is imperative that any and all children are under direct watch and supervision of an adult guardian at all times, both inside and outside the house. ANIMAL LIFE In the interest of full disclosure, bugs are part of living in Hawaii, as are other creatures who visit from our jungle. We have an excellent pest company which keeps the house well protected, so we very seldom see any roaches or ants, but the occasional cockroach, spider or ant is not a sign of inherent pest problems. You also might see a cane spider (large, but not poisonous.) You will also definitely see geckos inside and outside. And once in a while, wild pigs and roosters frequent our part of the jungle so you may hear them at night. We do see a couple of centipedes a year, and their bite is painful, so make sure you check that your closed-toe footwear is uninhabited before putting it on. All of that being said, we can guarantee that the place is super clean, and you certainly don't have to worry about being infested! And the other comforting news -- no snakes in Hawaii! TRADEWINDS OVER AC The house does not have central air conditioning. Being on the windward side of the island, we enjoy the natural ocean tradewinds that keep the house ventilated through the open jalousie (louvre) windows. That natural breeze, along with our ceiling fans and floor fans, keeps the house comfortable almost all the time. There are some hot days over the summer months, but we personally have never needed air conditioning. If, however, you are someone who is used to keeping the house interior constantly cold and needs to constantly have that frigid central AC feeling, this may not be the house for you. VERY IMPORTANT: Absolutely NO pets and NO smoking permitted. We are situated on a small, quiet residential street surrounded by elderly neighbors who have lived in their homes for many decades. So while this home accommodates up to 6 guests, t is essential that our guests are peaceful and respectful of the neighbors. Noise, raucous behavior, parties, events, and any guests other than those approved for the reservation are strictly prohibited. Important: Please note that your total charge includes Hawaii state GE (general excise) tax of 4.712%. Registration number W51508512-01
