Oak Nest Cottage is a quiet retreat on 5 wooded acres. The humble cottage is 600 sq feet. Super clean and efficient. The private and quiet cottage includes a kitchenette, bathroom w/ shower, deck, carport and a loft bedroom. It is comfortably romantic for 2 , safe & affordable for one The space Make this secluded cabin your private, adventure destination. Oak Nest Cottage is perfect for those who yearn for a peaceful retreat. This hidden cottage is at a comfortable distance from the host's home. This woodland setting is ideal for writers & meditators, star gazers and for anyone who wants to unplug from a busy lifestyle. Naturalists will love this property as it abutts to a wilderness corridor. Song birds and raptors nest in the canopy above the cabin. Wild turkey and deer wander about. Fox, rabbit and bob cat make stealth appearances. Oak Nest is a two story 600 foot cottage.The kitchenette has a gas stove/oven with four burners, small microwave and a mini fridge. Our deep well supplies clear delicious spring water. The cupboards will cover your basic needs: plates, coffee maker , bean grinder, utensils, etc. The bathroom consists of a stall shower, toilet, gel soap and clean towels are provided. The loft bedroom is like a cozy nest, queen bed with topper. The glossy bamboo floors are warm and inviting. A comfortable sleep awaits you in between our winter warm flannel sheets. In summer enjoy cool sheets. Sonora enjoys 4 distinct seasons, each offering a plethora of opportunities for fun. Winter 2024: Winter sports are not far, at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. Downhill and cross country skiing at affordable prices. It's about a 40 minute drive- if you include a stop at Alicia's Sugar Shack. A Dodge Ridge shuttle also runs on weekends from downtown Sonora. Dodge Ridge now opens for summer adventures. Chairlift for mountain biking and yoga. Magical Yosemite offers year round adventures: summer backpacking, autumn colors, spring waterfalls and nothing tops warming in front of the fireplace at the Ahwannee's on a winter cold afternoon. The area offers Autumn grape harvests, summer farmer's market and downtown music. We have access to rivers, wilderness trails and caves. Take your bike for a ride on our pastoral back country roads, if you are up for the challenge follow the Amgen 2013 bike race route. A hiking trail is just outside your door. We are less than 20 minutes from historic downtown Sonora, where you will find great dining, fun shopping, antiquing and yoga. 2nd Saturday art walk offers live music in many of the shops. Sonora boasts one wonderful theatre company with 2 locations. We are less than 20 minutes from the best casino in the gold country, Black Oak Casino. Black Oak is a venue for great live and free music as well as newly added Westside venue attracting big names. We are close to Columbia State Park. Murphy's is an upscale gem in the Sierra Foothills, known for it's wine tasting and dining adventures. Location Details: The entry gates to Yosemite are 1.5 hour away.Yosemite now requires a reservation for entry: visit their website. Downtown Sonora is 17 minutes away. The final mile to our house is a narrow ascending paved road with visible pot holes. Guest access The guest house and surrounding area is all yours, enjoy. Please let us know how we can make your stay more enjoyable. Other things to note Before you Book please note: We are 1.5 hour drive from the Yosemite Entrance. We are 15-20 minutes from downtown Sonora. Cooking bacon not allowed. Guests are asked to recycle and compost (food scraps, coffee grinds, etc.). Bins are provided under the sink. The last 1/4 mile to the cottage is a paved, but steep road. Sometimes in the cottage a spider, a lizard, hopefully not- but sometimes a field mouse will make an appearance: we keep the cottage very clean, we do not use pesticides or insecticides. Verizon and Sprint phones work here AT & T does not. We have reliable internet. Roku set up as well with Netflix streaming. We will issue you a gate opener upon arrival. Keep it with you on date of departure leave in cabin. The cost of a lost gate opener will be deducted from the $95. security deposit held by AIRBNB.
