The river is 500ms from the house and the river beach at Sarzedo, where the council have also built a swimming pool, is less than 2 kms away and can be reached by a short walk. There is another pretty river beach in Secarias approx. 2 kms away where you can hire pedaloes and there are restaurants and cafes there. Coimbra is an ancient capital of Portugal and approx. 45 kms away. The Serra da Estrela is the highest mountain range with skiing in winter, approx. 50kms away.
