Sow's Ear is a (2 maximum)dog-friendly, comfortable home base with 3 bedrooms and two baths, a great covered front porch, full use of our river frontage & hot tub. You can be fishing within a minute from your door and the deer will greet you every day. You're going to love it. The space Sow's Ear is a wonderful, (maximum two) dog-friendly, easy-access cabin at the end of the road, less than a minute's walk to the Trinity, with full use of our 600+ feet of shoreline, the hot tub overlooking the river and the hammered copper fire pit overlooking the river. It is easy to get to (just 3 miles from 299) and incredibly quiet. All you hear is the river along with crickets, frogs and birds. There is great hiking and biking right outside your door. This cabin has 3 full bedrooms and two baths. One bedroom has bunk beds as well as a queen bed and kids can choose between a raccoon or a dinosaur sleeping bag if traditional bedding seems kind of dull. (See the animal bags in Photos; they are a hoot!) The master bedroom has a handcrafted queen log bed, private bath with shower and a sliding door out to the honeysuckle porch. The second bedroom has a handmade queen log bed. The third bedroom is completely paneled in marvelous tongue and groove cedar; it has a queen bed, plus substantially made stacked bunk beds with extra headroom below to accommodate an adult. The full second bath has a tub with shower. There is a very pretty oak dining table with 1 leaf to accommodate 6-8 guests; a really good wood stove (wood provided); a Monitor heater; central A\C and heat, too. It has a delightful, covered front porch with wicker furniture and plants. Year-round, guests sit out there and they go nuts over it because the deer wander through, ravens and osprey and hummingbirds fly around and there is a pleasant bit of river view. Newly-added adult-sized cots also can be set up as bunk beds. And we have two great sleeping bags for kids! One is a racoon and the other is a dinosaur. Let us know if your kids are interested in them. We supply the deluxe pads and you bring the sleeping bags so 2 of you can sleep out on the porch or even alongside the river! You hear the river from the two front bedrooms, living room and porch. There is lots of room for fishing gear, including boats and trailers. There is a large gas BBQ and a Weber BBQ as well as a lovely teak outdoor table with chairs. Plus, just down the drive a short distance, Sow's Ear guests have full use of OUR patio over the river with dining set and fire pit (there are just two of us here and you won't feel overwhelmed). There's a hammock next to the river and comfy chairs and benches are sprinkled around on the river patio which we encourage guests to treat as theirs. Fish, swim and play with your dogs. Summer guests often tie large floatie toys to the trees and leave them on the water so they can sunbathe and swim from them. We have superb hiking on trails as close as right outside the door as well as a hard dirt road with almost zero traffic that's great for serious bikers who are looking for good offroad trails; many are accessed from this road. We welcome well-behaved dogs and have a pet fee of $15 per dog, per stay but they must be pre-approved. The pet fee can be paid when you're here. Let your dogs roam free but bring your bikes so you can keep up. All bedding, linens, towels, soaps and laundry needs are included. 1 roll of paper towels is provided so if you use a lot, bring a lot. There is a washer and dryer in Sow's Ear and the full kitchen has everything you could need. If not, we will loan it to you! The Smart TV has Netflix and Amazon Prime. Both offer an astounding array of movies and TV shows and make binge-watching a series very easy. There is no landline phone but fairly recent models of cell phones may be enabled to take and send calls and texts over the internet. Our internet service is great but do remember this isn't the city and it can't accommodate numerous streaming devices at once. (For 2019 we upgraded the internet service and removed some branches on the big pine tree out front that apparently were causing intermittent signal disturbances. Yippee!) We offer kayak, raft, cataraft and stand up paddleboard (SUP) rentals, lessons and guided trips. Our guided kayak trips include a thorough lesson before departure. We are very good at teaching and supply everything you need. The river has gentle meanders with some mild but still fun rapids; or you can paddle on Lewiston Lake, which is also stunning (wonderful birding: great blue herons, bald eagles, golden eagles, osprey & more; we often see them on our river trips, too). We prefer Lewiston Lake to Trinity Lake because it has a 10 MPH speed limit, resulting in a peaceful place to SUP, kayak with kids and dogs, and fish. All raft trips on the river are guided by us, but we can set you up with a good local guy for raft and inflatable kayak rentals if you prefer. We rent wonderful inflatable SUPs that you can carry in their backpack in a very small vehicle, then pump up at the lake. Our hard boards offer even more options for you! Pristine, stream-fed ponds just a few miles away provide warmer water than the river for swimming and are a nice option for families with small kids. All of our lessons are tailored to the individual and we are very good at this, never pushing you beyond your comfort zone, yet showing you how to expand it with our help. Michael Caranci of The Fly Shop in Redding says of our cabins: 'For sheer seclusion, access, and cozy, comfortable accommodations, the cabins at the Trinity River Adventure Cabins/Inn are certainly among the best.' Guest access Easy access to the river and just across the river from Bucktail put-in. Plenty of room for boats and trailers. Weaverville is about 20 minutes away and Lewiston is just a few miles from the cabin. Other things to note Weaverville has interesting galleries, museums and shops, as well as an excellent supermarket. There is a CVS pharmacy and many restaurants. Much more on all of this in our welcome book, which we send to you after booking.
