Hidden Barn Farm Stay Apartment
Secluded feeling and charming, rustic barn apartment located on a working sheep and poultry homestead. Immediately convenient to Minnewaska Cliffs, Mohonk trails, pick your own orchards, vineyards, and the charming towns of New Paltz and Gardiner. Perfect for climbers, hikers, leaf peepers, and farm lovers. Chickens, ducks, and geese wander the property filling it with a symphony of farm sounds. Our flock of friendly sheep is always open to pets and chin scratches. The space The space is a cozy, high ceiling one room apartment with adjoining bathrooms and shower, carved from the corner of a working barn and hay loft.. The room is furnished with a large four poster bed, a couch a table a mini fridge, microwave and Keurig coffee maker. Snacks, dishes, cups, cutlery, coffee and tea are provided but there are no real cooking options. The bathroom features a tiny sink and a shower with imported soaps, shampoos and towels. Parking is provided in the form of a gravel pad to the left of the driveway, immediately before the barn. If you drive past the barn you’ve gone too far. There is a fire pit next to the lake with wrought iron chairs and table, and a string of lights for ambiance. We are happy to set it up for an evening .retreat. The space is ideal for couples sharing the bed or an individual, a perfect launching point to enjoy our beautiful area and restaurants. The sheep are friendly and adorable but noisy early risers so we provide earplugs for light sleepers. Guest access Feel free to wander around the property, there is a hammock and fire pit near the lake which guests are welcome to use. The sheep are friendly and welcome chin scratches, whereas the geese are rambunctious. Unfortunately, due to liability concerns, the canoe and lake are not available to guests, as is walking on the ice in the wintertime. Nevertheless, there are plenty of swimming holes in the area to take advantage of. Other things to note Being a working homestead and farm, it is filled with the sound of ducks, chickens, geese, and sheep. We are also home to four Australian shepherds which can raise a bit of a din when they get worked up. It may not be the best fit for people who are looking for absolute quiet, though we do provide ear plugs to dim the barnyard chorus for light sleepers!
