Back in 1930, after leaving Dragove to work in New York , grandpa Mate built a beautiful house opposite the old one in harmony with nature surroundings. Almost 90 years later we’re following the very same path of grandpa Mate by retaining the authenticity of the house and combining it with modern retro comfort. Grandpa Mate House is based on Dugi Otok at the edge of the village Dragove. The house was completely restored by its it`s current Croatian and American owners in 2010. It has a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove and refrigerator with mini freezer, wooden stairway, a large hallway and two sleeping rooms in the first floor and spacious bathroom and a hallway in the ground floor. CableTV. The sleeping rooms are equipped with queen size beds and high quality mattresses. All windows are protected with a built-in, solid and easy to use mosquito net. Running water in the home is used from the water tank, which is located under the ground, filled with rainwater.On the ground floor there is a living room with the kitchen, bathroom and a hall. On the first floor there are two bedrooms and a hall. The house is air-conditioned. A spacious stone courtyard is shared with Aunt Regina House dating from 1882. A stone barbecue in the shade of a sixty year old fig tree and an outdoor dining table make space for a comfortable dining. Two houses can accommodate 10 guests. There is a parking lot for four cars in the back yard
