Mark’s Studio – a stand alone and large, 36 square metre (360 ft2) accommodation for two with natural stone floors, queen bed. Features en-suite, snack making facilities (electric kettle, toaster, sink and bar fridge) plus a breakfast counter with stools. The Studio has views of the Laguna and garden and is only a moment’s walk from the Rancho, the pool, and the Laguna shore. Monkeys are often spotted in the trees beside its broad flagstone terrace with outdoor table. The space Finca Malinche, a serene getaway on the shores of Laguna de Apoyo, was the brain-child of Etienne Dusart, a Harvard-trained, award winning organic architect who designed and built Finca Malinche as his home. Acutely environmentally aware, his goal was blending the structure into the inner side of the Apoyo volcanic caldera as it sloped down to the edge of the Laguna. Instead of one large, sprawling building, he laid out a meandering series of casas built of local volcanic rock that nestle under the tropical forest canopy and comingle with the rock-strewn slope. Today, with Etienne’s philosophy as a guide, these casas have been updated to private, self-contained guest accommodation with a large gathering place, the Rancho, down at the Laguna shore. Guest access At Finca Malinche you have shared access to all the retreat’s facilities. These include free wifi, on-site secure parking, the landscaped pool with 6m (20’) waterfall, the 13.5 square mile (35 square km) Laguna with direct beach access, one or two-person kayaks and the 2 level Rancho. The spacious Rancho ground level features a large gathering table (where breakfast is served), numerous lounging chairs and hammocks, plus snack making facilities (small fridge/freezer, blender, microwave, toaster oven, electric kettle) and filtered drinking water. Please note the Rancho is not equipped with an oven/stove/cooktop. (If you need full cooking facilities please book the room Gitsa Havansa at Finca Malinche). The pool and barbeque grill are a few steps away and an adjacent flagstone stairway leads down to the Laguna shore. Staff can assist in lighting the wood fired barbecue. Be sure to bring wood or charcoal. The property has a maximum of 14 guests in 5 seperate buildings. During your stay You will be left in peace to enjoy the property but if you need him Donaldo is available to answer your questions and take care of any problems. He can help with tourist advice etc. On arrival you will be met at the property and shown the facilities. Other things to note Nearby Restaurants – several local eateries will deliver your order to Finca Malinche, including the Laguna Beach Club. Groceries, supplies and take-out – bring what you need with you. Security – Finca Malinche is staffed 24/7. There  are two trained guard dogs that have free range of the property grounds at all times.
