Arrive earlier from DC/ other locations. There are nice views and good space for socializing. Enjoy the large table & bar. 5 minute drive to the Purple Fiddle & other amenities in Thomas, or to Blackwater Falls State Park. 15 min. drive to Canaan Valley. Some beds in common spaces; please read details. The space This is a charming, restored home that guests love and I love to share. Check in: 4pm or after. Check out: by 11am Beds: There are two “true” bedrooms Master bedroom with 1 queen bed. A double bedroom with 2 queen beds, 1 converted porch bedroom with a queen bed, 1 semi private bedroom off the kitchen with a full sized bed, and a semi private loft bedroom upstairs with a queen bed. There is also a pull-out couch and a couch that opens into a sleeper bed. So, again, that’s 5 queen beds and one full size bed and two sleeper couches. There are not five “true”bedrooms, which is an Airbnb listing quirk. It's a 1500 sq ft house designed to fit a lot of people. It's cozy and traffic flow works. The idea is to have a guest house walking distance to social amenities. The beds are all super comfortable and the backyard is pleasant, with nice views over town. The main bedroom and bathroom afford nice views as well. The kitchen is modern and well equipped including with spices, oil, etc. the window above the oven lets you enjoy the mountain view while cooking. Very dog and kid-friendly but please let me know in advance if you’re bringing dogs or children. If you have a dog or dogs I will ask for a $10 per dog fee for the entire stay. $100 fee if you bring a dog and don’t let me know in advance. I only charge so little extra for dogs because you will be responsible for cleaning up after your dog. You will be sent an additional message with details on what this entails but basically it should not be any more difficult for my cleaner to do her job after you leave even if you have a dog. A/C and heat: the house has baseboard heaters with both upstairs and downstairs zones. There are several A/C wall units I ask you to turn off when not using those rooms. TV: There is a smart TV that allows you to login to your Netflix or other accounts. Almost all the light switches have dimmers. Winter: I will do my best to have the parking spaces shoveled if there is snow and will likely be able to do that for you though I cannot promise 100% I'm afraid. However there are a good snow shovel and salt on the porch. You generally do not need 4wd. The road is plowed by the town. If you are coming from points east of Davis, entering town on 7th street should be fine. If entering from downtown then you are better off going up 4th street than 3rd. Guest access The entire house and the backyard (but not the unfinished basement). Host sometimes stays in the cottage behind the backyard. On very rare occasions I may need to use a separate private entrance to access the basement but can message you if I have to do that. Other things to note Check out time is 11am. Message when you’re leaving. Check in after 4pm. There is a Nest system that tells me through an app the house temperature and if the fire alarm goes off. If the fire alarm goes off and I soon don’t see another alert that the smoke is clearing you may get a text from me checking in. I want to respect your privacy! The only camera is in the doorbell looking towards the front for security. This fire alarm alert is just to make sure guests are safe and my investment is intact.
