Location is everything in this comfy and affordable private unit located on the Chester River and Winchester Creek with water views. Also enjoy the hosts water front amenities such as fishing at our private pier, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding or simply relax at the waterfront for morning coffee and sunrises or enjoy the fire pit in the evening. The community playground and beach are just steps away. Close proximity to restaurants and shopping. The space The rental unit was built in 1954 which we purchased in 2003. This (now) rental unit was our home until we built the adjacent separate home to continue to raise our family. During that time, the current rental unit became the home for my mother (Yia Yia) for 12 years. Over the past 6 years, friends and family have enjoyed visiting "Yia-Yia's cottage" on the Maryland's Eastern Shore and having access to the full private unit. We want to share her quaint home with you and hope you add to your own memories when you visit. The 1300 square foot Cape Cod home is a separate unit from the hosts' home with private access. You will have use of the entire unit which includes two full bedrooms (one queen in each private bedroom) with a shared half bathroom on the second level. A dedicated semi-private office space with an additional single bed on the lower level in the pass through to the upstairs serves as an additional sleeping room but it is not completely private. The full bathroom on the 1st floor makes this room helpful for a single older family member when stairs are difficult. The full kitchen; living room area, and dining room are also on the 1st floor. The entrance to the home is through the private screened and covered porch that also allows you to relax, catch some breezes, or has been a great spot for picking crabs. The kitchen is fully stocked with stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee and espresso maker, pots, pans, dishes, and basic spices for cooking. Bedding and towels are provided as well as internet and TV. Off street parking can accommodate 2 cars. Please be aware our home and unit is not handicap accessible although the dedicated work space with single bed on the first floor is adjacent to the full bathroom and has been convenient for family members and friends have who visited with an older parent or single child. You are most welcome to walk through our yard to access waterfront amenities such as fishing off the private pier, use of the water front fire pit, or relax in our serene self-made private water front beach area equipped with Adirondack chairs and umbrellas (if you prefer more shade). Enjoy the use of the kayaks and paddle board to explore the small beach area across the creek or take in the Eastern shore wildlife. If you have younger children, we are just steps away from the community playground. We are also in close proximity to many restaurants, parks, Love Point Winery, and shopping areas. Plan day trips to many close by quaint Eastern Shore towns such as St. Michaels, Chestertown, Easton, Smith Island and more. Relax and create memories. Guest access Entrance is by the screened porch on the right side of the driveway. Access code will be provided 24 hours prior to checking in. Other things to note Please note the cleaning fee is nominal. We are very particular and provide cleaning ourselves which saves you money. We ask you deposit the trash in the trash bin next to the screened porch. The unit is not child proof and we do not allow pets. If you bring children, you must be present with them at all times while enjoying the waterfront areas. Bring your fishing gear. Guests are welcome to use the kayak and paddle board but please bring your life jackets. A fish cleaning table is also located at the pier. As this is a Cape Cod unit, there is limited closet space. You are welcome to share the large closet that is also currently being used to store belongings for two college age students and baby items for our grandson when he visits (guests have and are welcome to use the baby items).
