Cross Hill Glamping- Secluded Luxury Bell Tent
Welcome to your off-grid glamping experience in the Catskills. This luxury bell tent is nestled on the hillside of an expansive 18-acre property with a private spring fed pond, full apple orchard and mountain views. Come to fish, hunt or just enjoy the fresh country air. Cozy up around the wood burning stove at night. Perfect for that weekend getaway and conveniently located minutes from downtown Cobleskill, Howe Caverns and Mallet Pond State Forest. The space Spend time connecting with nature again in this large 20 square foot canvas bell tent. Feel what it was like to be an old-fashoned explorer, but with modern touches and conveniences. Enjoy the outdoors in style and comfort. The tent features two twin beds, one full-size bed, ample bedouine style seating and a high 20 foot ceiling. We provide clean linens, down comforters and towels. There is a wood burning stove for warmth (we provide firewood) and solar generators for charging your devices, lights, fans and a small 12 volt RV camping fridge. A short distance away from the tent, tucked away in the woods, you will find a quaint outdoor kitchen, bath and shower area. Here you can enjoy a home cooked meal and a hot outdoor shower. There is a small compost toilet for your convenience. We provide a propane camp stove, dishes, utensils and cookwear. There is also a high quality cooler which is very efficient and in our experience only needs one small bag of ice to keep food and drinks cool for 2 days. We invite you to explore the tent and property during each season. In the spring and summer there are cool mountain breezes, bullfrogs by the pond, birds and wildlife abound. Fall features apple picking from the orchard and classic New England foliage. Winter offers it's own experience with white winter landscapes and warm nights around the fire. Make a fresh cup of coffee, and then take a morning plunge in the cold spring fed pond. Restock and take a break from the country in downtown Cobleskill just 5 minutes away. Many guests enjoy the stores, restaurants and bars of this small college town. In the evenings enjoy a camp fire and complimentary wine. Play some music and games, converse with old and new friends. Fall asleep under the stars. For even more outdoor adventures make sure to check out Howe Caverns and Mallet Pond State Forest nearby. In addition, Windham Mountain with world-class skiing is about 40 minutes away, and Oneonta is about an hour drive. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions about the layout of the property and features of the glamping site. We hope you can come and share this piece of land and the outdoors with us. See you soon! Guest access When you arrive please park to the side of the driveway next to the gate with the iron horse cut out on it. This is the tent parking spot. Parking here will let people from the cabin share the driveway. Please do not drive on the grass or to the tent. You will need to walk a short distance to the glamping site from your car. The property is 18-acres. The back of the cabin to your left when you pull into the driveway faces north. To get to the tent, cross the field with white gazebo down the hill and enter the small path to your right which winds it's way further down the property. You will pass through the apple orchard and you will see the pond on your left with another gazebo. The glamping site is past the pond on the side of the hill. You will see it marked with solar lights. It's a big bell tent so you can't miss it. The pond and the area around the tent is for your use. There is a small shower area, outdoor kitchen and compost toilet. Please make sure to pack out what you pack in and keep scented items in the cooler or bear canister. You are expected to carry out what you bring in. Garbage bags are provided for your convenience. Other things to note The off-grid tent site shares the property with Cross Hill Cabin, a log cabin on the property. If you want to experience the country side, but need modern conveniences like running water, WiFi and full kitchen, feel free to book Cross Hill Cabin (airbnb.com/h/crosshillcabin) or to experience both off-grid and comfortable country living why not rent both the cabin and the tent here: airbnb.com/h/crosshillcabinandglampinggetaway. During the summer months the interior of the tent can get hot, especially in the middle of the day. We recommend hanging out in the shade by the pond, visiting Howe Cavern nearby, or doing some shopping in town; perhaps take a nice wooded walk at Mallet Pond. Never leave children unattended in the tent. At night it can be chilly, especially in the fall, so sleeping bags and warm cloths are highly recommended. We have a small wood stove that can be used, but this is an off-grid tent, so temperature fluctuations should be expected. In cases of extreme weather we will offer a refund for your stay. Cell reception at the site is good and we have not had problems with Verizon or AT&T. Your experience may vary but you should be able to stay connected with your data plan. Use the solar generator to charge and play your devices.
