Our amazing Villa Tica is very spacious located in a quiet village just 60 minutes from San Jose, 10 minutes from Agujas beach between Jaco and Carara National Park. Villa Tica is situated on the West coast approximately 60 minutes from San Jose, the roads are paved all the way to our front gate. There are buses every hour from San Jose or the airport to Jaco, stopping only minutes from Villa Tica. If you decide to rent a car, there is no need for a 4x4, save your money for other things, unless you want to adventure off road. You will be driving to the West coast on a new Highway towards the famous surf beach, Jaco. Once you make your reservation we will send the directions to Villa Tica. - IS THERE SOMEONE IN COSTA RICA WHO CAN ASSIST ME WHILE I AM THERE? Yes, once you book Villa Tica, we will send you the names and phone numbers of our property manager, caretakers and made, who can help you throughout your stay. They are very knowledgeable on the area and will be there at check in & checkout. WE do not have a tour guide and our caretaker and made do not speak English, if you need anything while staying at Villa Tica you must contact the property manager or myself. -IS THERE A BEACH NEARBY THAT IS EASY TO GET TO? Yes, in fact you are really quite spoiled on choices. Playa Aguja, is the nearest 10-15 minutes on bike, then one of our favorites is Playa Manta and Playa Blanca about 20 minutes away. Jaco is only 15 minutes by car down the Costaneira Highway, where you will find banks, restaurants, bars, discos, stores etc… A short drive further down the coast takes you to Playa Hermosa one the most famous surfing beaches in Costa Rica. -HOW EASY IS IT TO FIND VILLA TICA? Upon confirming your reservation, we will send you very clear directions including photos of landmarks along the way. This is updated monthly to give all of our guests as up-to-date info and recommendations as possible. -ARE THERE RESTAURANTS AND SHOPPING NEARBY? Quebrada Ganado is a small local village with a really good selection of small markets, bakeries, fruit stands, a pharmacy, small stores and restaurants along the Costaneira. Villa Caletas, an upscale French hotel and restaurant is only 10 minutes away by car; further south is the Marriot Hotel, which has restaurants, casino, golf course, marina and a small shopping center. -ARE THERE EXCURSIONS & ACTIVITIES CLOSE BY? Yes, the surrounding area offers, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, zip-lining, boat tours, horseback tours, ATV tours, as well as being located only 10 minutes by car from Carara National Park. There are dozens of picturesque, quiet beaches all the way up and down the Pacific coast, with enough activities and adventures on offer to do something completely different every day! We can also recommend great day trips to Manuel Antonio National Park and Beach, located in Quepos. For surfers, Playa Hermosa has lefts and rights for more experienced surfers. Closer to Villa Tica, Jaco has good waves for every skill level. -IS IT A SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD? Quebrada Ganado is a small friendly community, where everyone says hi to everyone. If you wanted a friendly chat or even some more tips on the area, you can ask any of our neighbors and they will gladly help you. -DOES VILLA TICA HAVE INTERNET? Yes, we can provide WiFi for Internet connection upon request 15 days prior of your arrival, small fee will apply, depend on the Bmps (megabytes per second, download speed) you request. Basic service fee at the moment is $35. Please ask when making your reservation. -WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE? A more detailed description of Costa Rica's seasons can be found on the Internet, but in general you can expect about 85+ degrees at the beach year round. The only difference in climate year round is May-November is the "green," or rainy season, and December through March/April is the dry season. The temperature at Villa Tica is always a few degrees cooler because the breeze from the river. -WILL I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME? You do not need to bring any household items, all bedding; tableware, towels, cookware etc are all provided. We also provide the basic for toiletry, and kitchen detergent etc… for your first days. We do NOT provide laundry detergent, trash bags, tooth paste or any personal items. (beach towels are provided) Bring only your personal items, and of course a sense of 'Pura Vida' adventure! -WOULD I BE SHARING VILLA TICA WITH ANYONE? NO, you will have the entire retreat (house and surrounding area) just to yourselves. A lot of our guests are honeymooners and couples, as well as groups of friends and entire families. Either way, whether you are 2 people or a group of 7 with kids, you will have the entire property to yourselves. We realize that most guests come to our area to really switch off and get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist cities near by. Our housekeeper or property manager will meet you at Villa Tica on your check in day and collect the keys on the day of checkout, thus giving you all the privacy you want. With that being said, we are of course available for anything throughout your stay. IS ELECTRICAL SERVICES 110 OR 220, DO I NEED ANY ADAPTER? No need for adapters, all Costa Rica use standard 110 Volt. Is the WiFi good for our i Phones? Is there cable tv and if so, any English channels? Yes, upon your request, we can provide WiFi and you can use around the home. We do not provide cable, we have a Smart TV with a Firestick that you can watch your favor programs and movies including Amazon, Netflix etc... DO I NEED ANY VACCINE? At the moment we don't know of any required , but you should consult with your doctor and your local government concerning any health issue in Costa Rica at the time you are traveling. CAN WE DRINK TAP WATER OR WE SHOULD BUY WATER? We use tap water, but that is up to you to decide your preference. WILL OUR THINGS WILL BE SAFE AT THE HOUSE? We feel very safe at our community and in our Villa, never had any trouble since we built in 2002, our care taker is here most of the time. Try to leave jewelry and other valuables at home, most people come to Costa Rica to enjoy nature and turn off from big cities, so you will be looking at birds, plants, animals etc... no need to dress fancy ether. Use common sense when visiting parks or going to the beach, don't leave valuables in the car, take with you. But remember, crime exist anywhere. Guest access You will have the entire house and approximately 1.5 acres to explore, one car garage will be available, you just have to ask for. There are several seasonal tropical fruit trees that you can pick and eat the fruit fresh or make juice. Other things to note For your safety, the house is equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detector, safety kit, safety card instructions, all provided by Airbnb. All outlets near the water or outside are protected w/GFCI breakers. WARNING! CAR RENTAL IN COSTA RICA ARE A RIPOFF IF YOU ARE RENTING A CAR IN COSTA RICA, BE AWARE OF EXTRA INSURANCE AND OTHER THINGS THE RENTAL CAR COMPANY'S CHARGE, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A FULL RENTAL PRICE AGREEMENT INCLUDING ALL INSURANCE IN WRITING WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR RESERVATION. IF YOUR CREDIT CAR COMPANY COVERS YOUR RENTAL CAR INSURANCE ABROAD, TAKE A COPY OF THEIR POLICY WITH YOU, SO THE RENTAL CAR COMPANY DON'T CHARGE YOU TWICE.
