The Eagles nest! We decided to build an authentic Trapper's cabin 9ft up in the trees. Built on heavy power poles, it's wide and long "stairways to heaven" gets you to a little deck with plenty of room to hang out and relax. Inside you'll find a comfortable queen bed and plenty of room to place your things. This is an adventurous place and has a unique and romantic feel. The space Sven’s Basecamp Hostel is where adventurers in Alaska begin a journey, meet up after a trip, or take a much-needed rest. Mountaineers, amateur naturalist, wilderness guides, motorcyclist, and those looking to explore Alaska find friends and relaxation here like nowhere else in Fairbanks. Centrally Located between two major ports of entry we are 3.5 miles from Fairbanks International Airport and 3.5 miles from the Fairbanks train station. You will be within a mile of a Fred Meyer food and supply store and minutes away from some of our favorite bars and restaurants where the locals like to go. You’ll love your stay because of the private unique glamping experience, the meals you will cook and share (likely with new friends) in the community kitchen, and the memories you will probably value for a lifetime. Come alone or bring family and friends. We even welcome your furry friends if they are well behaved and welcoming to others. The beds are fitted with sheets and pillows. Sleeping bags are provided if needed upon request. The shared bathrooms and quarter-operated shower are conveniently located in our community bath house nearby. Guest access You will have free parking in our parking lot. Motorcyclists have designated parking. We have a community kitchen that is stocked with pots/pans and dishes that you are welcome to use. There are also two refrigerators and plastic containers for dry food storage. We ask that all guests clean the dishes they use and label their food with their name and date of storage. During your stay When you arrive you will check-in at the main two-story cabin with the sign above that reads “Sven’s Hostel” located at the front of the property. Depending on the time of day/night you arrive either I or one of my staff members will be happy to greet you. During your stay, your tent will remain private and I or one of the staff will only enter it upon your request for housekeeping services.
