Welcome to our Camper's Cabin on the Divide #3, a primitive outdoor retreat nestled at the Continental Divide Park & Camp in Historic Pinos Altos, New Mexico. This primitive cabin is one of three cabins onsite, combining rustic charm with basic comforts, making it the perfect simple getaway for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Travel solo, or have your family and friends join you in one of our other cabins, tent sites or full-hookup RV spots. Dog friendly! The space SIMPLICITY: Our cabin offers comfortable bedding, sitting area, and charging ports for electronics. There is a standing fan unit for warmer weather and a thermostat-controlled heating unit for cooler weather, along with all bedding and bath towels for up to 2 guests. While embracing the simplicity of cabin life, we've made sure you don't miss out on the basics. The cabin also has a heater for colder seasons, but please note that this is a camper's cabin and does not have A/C. RUSTIC AMENITIES: While the cabin itself has no indoor plumbing, just steps away from the cabin, you'll find an outhouse. For more extensive needs, our bathhouse on the property is equipped with hot showers, ensuring you can freshen up comfortably after a day of adventure. Plus, we've got you covered with a picnic area, charcoal camp grill, potable water and laundry facilities on-site. PRIME LOCATION FOR OUTDOOR ADVENTURES: For pass-through hikers and cyclists, we are situated just 2 miles from the Bear Creek Road access to the Continental Divide Trail. Alternatively, the Arrastra Interpretive Site, a mere 1.5 miles down NM State Highway 15, offers another gateway to the CDT from the cabin. Explore the nearby Gila National Forest and Aldo Leopold Wilderness, a paradise for hikers, road cyclists and nature lovers. These nearby areas boast a plethora of trails and routes through stunning landscapes. RICH CULTURE & HISTORY: History buffs will appreciate the cabin's proximity to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and the rich Apache Native American history of the region. Learn about the legacies of Cochise and Geronimo, just a stone's throw away and the more recent mining history of western settlers arriving in the area. RELAXATION & EVENTS: Unwind in native hot springs, located down the road on a scenic drive. Also, our location of Pinos Altos is at the epicenter of the Tour of the Gila bicycle race in the spring, offering an exhilarating experience for cycling enthusiasts. Bring your telescope – dark skies abound for star gazing enthusiasts! CONVENIENT AMENITIES: Though you'll be surrounded by nature in the center of an almost-but-not-quite ghost town, Silver City's resources are only 7 miles south, providing easy access to anything you might need during your stay. DOG FRIENDLY: We welcome your furry companions! Dogs may stay at the cabin for an additional $20 pet fee. No additional fees are required if you have more than one furmily member joining you. Please let the host know if you will be bringing pets. At our Camper's Cabin on the Divide, immerse yourself in the simplicity of nature, the thrill of wilderness adventures, and the richness of American West history. Our little town of Pinos Altos is a funky and eclectic place filled with hippies, ranchers, artists, roaming dogs, hispanic and indigenous cultures, ancient artifacts and everything you would imagine the wild west being before modern times! Guest access Guests have access to their cabin, nearby outhouse, potable water, the bathhouse with hot showers and coin laundry facilities, and the common house. Other things to note Wifi is centrally located on the property for basic use, but is not located in the cabin. Verizon and T-Mobile provide decent service throughout the town of Pinos Altos, but AT&T is not reliable. Cell data service can sometimes be spotty inside the cabin, however calls and SMS texts are ok. The cabin is strictly non-smoking only.
