There are raised thresholds in doorways between rooms. Consider grippy slippers and please watch your step. Tall people will need to duck their head under some doorways and ceiling beams. Due to the nearby farm, streams, and fields bugs occasionally get in the house. We've provided bug eliminators for your use. Heating / AC units are individually controlled in each bedroom via remote. Please see the printed manual for a diagram of the button controls. FOR MOBILITY CHALLENGED PEOPLE - From the driveway there's access to the back door via 3 very wide steps (each almost like landings). - The ground floor has a bedroom, bathroom, mudroom, laundry, kitchen, dining room, living room, and covered deck. - The house isn't quite wheelchair friendly due to the irregular doors and floors, but we tested mobility with a paraplegic friend using a motorized wheelchair. A wheelchair can get around the ground floor — except into the bathroom which is narrow and does not have grab bars. Perhaps someone can leave the wheelchair assisted and shimmy to the toilet or shower, we've not confirmed this yet. Fitting in the bedroom and getting on the full-size bed would be a bit tight. The pull-out couch in the living room may be easier to access but requires someone in your group to set it up. - If you have your own ramp it's possible to use on the single step-up on the far side of the back porch to get a wheelchair in, but requires traversing over the grass lawn adjacent to the porch which is usually solid and fine unless it's muddy or snow covered due to the weather. We do not shovel or salt the lawn. - Guests with vans needing to offload a wheelchair should contact us so we can advise on the best location in the driveway to disembark.
