The space Hunters Gate is mid-mountain at Togari Onsen. Surrounded by rice fields, the covered BBQ patio is sheltered from sun and light rain so that your barbecue can go ahead in style! BBQ set rental is available for an extra fee, or you can bring your own. Fireworks are permitted in the car park, until 9PM. Families with children and dogs enjoy the freedom to run and play indoors and out. The property has a full chefs kitchen which means it’s easy to prepare family meals or packed lunches together, which can be a great solution if you have any picky eaters or food allergies in your crew. We also have a huge rec room with table tennis which kids love! However, it's a little bit far to walk to the village shops, restaurants and bus stop (20 mins) so rental cars are recommended. We can provide secure storage for e-bikes and motorcycles. We are really close by car to Nozawa Onsen (15 mins), Madarao (30 mins), Kijimadaira (20 mins), and Shiga Kogen and Myoko Kogen are less than an hour away. It’s around 2 hours to Hakuba. The snow monkey park is around 40 minutes away. The shinkansen at iiyama provides easy access to the outlet shopping mall at Karuizawa for shopping trips if some of your group want to daytrip to get brand name goods at reasonable prices. Ask us about e-bike rental, Shugendo experiences and e-bike tours. With 7 guest rooms, the building is 400 square metres so up to 24 guests can stay comfortably. Airbnb only allows enquiries for 16 people at the moment, but we can make special arrangements for schools and other groups that are traveling together. Please send an enquiry. On the second floor three traditional Japanese tatami mat rooms with futons and four western-style rooms, so you can choose whether you want to have a truly Japanese experience or sleep in a bed. We make up the comfy futon beds for you, according to your wishes. A cot for a baby is available on request. The fully-equipped second floor dining kitchen has a gas oven (rare in Japanese homes) and a cozy wood pellet burning stove. Here you'll find everything you need to make delicious meals for everyone, including 3 nabe sets and 2 shabu shabu pots. High-speed wifi throughout the building means you can work, study, or relax anywhere! Separate men’s and women’s showers and changing rooms have a total of 7 private shower booths and two family-sized baths. We have a ski and snowboard equipment room with plenty of space to dry your gear by the main entrance. Free clothes washer and coin-operated dryer. Parking for up to six cars. Up to 2 toilet-trained pets are allowed free of charge. Guest access Please note, that due to enhanced cleaning protocols, we now only allow access to room 7 to groups of 13 or more. If you have a smaller group and wish to use room 7 please ask us in advance. Guests have access to most of the building. Some storage closets, the boiler room, and management quarters are off limits. Off limit areas are clearly signed. Staff may need to enter the property from time to time to manage fuel supplies, check fire systems and perform rountine maintenance or snow clearing. We will let you know before we enter the building. Other things to note Extra guests The base price includes up to 6 people. From the 7th person an extra fee per person per night is charged. Infants up to 2 years old are free. A baby bed is available on request. Airbnb settings only allow for up to 16 guests. To add extra people to the reservation please tell us the total number of people that you wish to stay per night (eg December 15th:14 people, December 16th: 18 people). We will send a request to change the price of your stay accordingly. To remove guests, simply send us the same information. We can take changes in numbers of people up to 48 hours before check-in. Pets Up to 2 dogs are allowed free of charge. A few days before you arrive please shampoo your pet, and make sure their nails are trimmed. We do not accept pets that are not yet toilet trained. Neutered and toilet-trained cats are also permitted. We accept most other kinds of pets, as long as they can be kept in a crate or cage. Things to bring: Pet food, and feeding bowls, any medicine your pet needs, a carrying crate if necessary, your pet's bed, a bath towel and some toys. ****IN WINTER SEASON PLEASE READ**** Our mid-mountain location is amazing for true ski-in/out, but only guests that bring 4-wheel drive cars or snow chains will be able to drive the steep access road and have the best experience. In Summer, walking to Togari's shops and restaurants is possible (20 mins) but in winter there is no walking access to the village. The lodge is an idyllic ski-in ski-out location at Togari Onsen, and is great fun for 1-night stays without a car, but if you are planning to stay longer, then we recommend that you should bring a car. When choosing a rental car, please be certain that it equipped with four or all-wheel drive and has snow tires. We are happy to suggest rental car companies Regarding Insects: The Japanese countryside has a lot of insects! We try to regard them as friends, and don’t like to use too much chemical sprays in our properties. Your property is checked for insects before each stay, but sometimes, no matter what we do, a stink bug or spider will come out. Please use the bug spray provided, or wrap a stink bug in tape and throw it in the trash. In the Summer months, if you notice a bees nest starting to form outside, please let us know, so that we can take it down. Sustainability We are committed to reducing our plastic waste. We do not supply disposable toothbrushes, so please bring your own. We sell travel toothbrush kits in the vending machine on the ground floor. We are also strongly committed to reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, and our electricity is provided through a 100% renewable energy plan (We would love to get solar panels but there's too much snow here in winter!)
