Located inside the medieval gate to the village, this 15th c. house accommodates large and small groups comfortably. NOTE: Our turnover day is Friday. You may request to rent fewer than seven days but they must be between Fridays The space You will think you have walked back in time! Ideal for families or couples (up to 8 people). Located in SW France less than 2 hours N of Toulouse, the village is ranked Premier among France's "Most Beautiful Villages." Our 4 BR 4.5 Bath home has gourmet kitchen and a beautiful, private garden for al fresco dining. Enjoy the exquisite pleasures of gourmet food, wine, foie gras and truffles. Set at the lower end of a beautiful artists' village, just inside the medieval village gate, Maison d'Etre welcomes and invites you, your family and friends to stay a while. Originally built in the 14th century, the home now has everything you need to make it your base of operations while exploring this remarkable part of France. Located on the enchanting River Lot, one will find much to do in and around St Cirq LaPopie. There are very few signs in the village of anything more recent than the 18th century. It is under consideration as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Considered the most beautiful 100 km in France, the road along the banks of the River Lot will delight at every turn. Tour nearby chateaux and dine on wonderful gourmet meals. Kayak, canoe or swim in the river. Shop in thriving markets in one of the many other nearby beautiful villages. See cave paintings at Pech Merle. Located 15 minutes away, these caves are one of the last real caves open for public visiting. The local museums show everything from current art to the history of local farming practices. Enjoy tasting the acclaimed regional wines (Malbec) of the Cahors appellation. A visit to twonderful and award winning wineries is a great day trip. The world-famous wineries of Bourdeaux and St. Emilion are a half-day’s drive from the village. The famous Tour de France climbs of the Pyrenees are similarly less than a half-day away. There is great hiking and magnificent biking in the region. It is a slice of heaven for those interested in spelunking. Finally, return each evening to relax in your own private home. With your fresh market purchases, you may make your own coq au vin in the fully-equipped, gourmet kitchen. Or walk to one of the 10 great restaurants within the village to enjoy the local cuisine. In the evening, it is a delight to simply wander the cobbled streets and take in the views. For a panormaic view of the Lot River valley, climb up to the top of the castle ruins on 300 foot outcrop. GROUND FLOOR: Dining room (seats up to 8), with door to garden. Fully equipped kitchen that goes through to luxurious bathroom with heated towel rack, washer/dryer. Lots of clean towels. MIDDLE LEVEL: Wood burning fireplace and two lounge areas. One with flat screen TV, DVD, books & music. Comfortable sofa can also be twin bed for extra guest. Second lounge area has two two-seater leather sofas and antique French "sleigh" bed. Perfect area for reading. Master Bedroom with king bed (also convertible to twins) and large luxury master bath with shower and tub on this level. A view up to the Medieval church from the tub and the pillow! ;-) THIRD LEVEL: 3 bedrooms. One BR with double bed, en-suite WC, air conditioning and sofa and coffee table. Two additional fold out twin foam beds located here. Two other BRs one with two twin beds and the other with King bed (convertible to two twins); each with toilet, sink and shower. Guest access The entire house is available to guests Other things to note NOTE: Our turnover day is Friday. You may rent for 4-5 days but they must be between Fridays. In two of the bedrooms there are king beds which can be converted to twins.
