It is a very unique and special place. The charm & hospitality of the Les Cheneaux Islands draws visitors back year after year. Here are some other suggestions of fun things to do during your stay: - Cross-country skiing: Right across the road! You can walk/go by car to Cedar Bay's trails. You must register at the lodge, so be sure to go there first. There is no charge, but a waiver must be signed. Also, check out Northwoods Camp & Pine Bowl. 20 away with great skiing. Northwoods has night skiing with a candle lit trail. And they do have skis you can use on the premises. -Snowmobiles: There is a snowmobile trail 3 miles up the road. Contact the Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club to find out the best place to park. They will also be able to tell you if you can ride along the highway to the trails. -Family Fun: There are several fun things to do nearby for family, above and beyond what is listed. For instance, check out the Hessel School House! Lots of events, nature walks, kid & adult crafts, an array of learning! There are also several parks in the area. One favorite is Heritage Park in downtown Cedarville. -Biking: There are miles of trails to bike nearby. You can go for a few miles or all day! Beautiful 2 track roads, gorgeous dense woods, creeks and wildlife. Strava lists favorite biking spots as well. -Hiking: 1/4 mile drive or walk to the John Arthur Woollam Preserve, (Narnia Trail) rated one of the top things to do in the Les Cheneaux area! Take an unforgettable hike along Lake Huron, exploring the habitat, the gorgeous views of the rocky shoreline, and even go for a swim! Swimming: Sandy beaches are approx. 6 miles East with miles of beach and perfect swimming. Or just pack your swimming suit and swim across the road at the preserve's cove! Dining, gift shops, etc. Cedarville is just 6 miles East with much to offer. Les Cheneaux Coffee Roasters, Les Cheneaux Distillery, Summer Farmers' Markets, lovely gift shops, ice cream Shoppes, and more! -Golfing: There are 3 wonderful courses within a 20 mile range. Les Cheneaux Golf Club in Cedarville, Hessel Ridge Golf in Hessel and Munoscong Golf Course in Pickford. -Fishing: There are charter companies in the area. Or just toss a line in Cedarville Bay, Raber Bay or Hessel. **For those bringing their own boat, there is a public boat launch just 3 miles up the road. -Boating: Touring the islands is a fun experience by water craft. (Boat rentals are available in the area) Boat houses line the islands shoreline, as often boats/canoes/kayaks are the only means of travel for island residents.
