The grand re-opening of our beautiful lake house (almost a full rehab) is finally here! You will be amongst the first guests to enjoy a newly furnished & beautiful renovated home. For even more excitement, relaxation, and adventures, you can visit the famous city of Chicago, and check out spectacular Lake Michigan beaches and the famous trails of Indiana dunes, all under one hour away! With expansive lake views in your main living spaces, and just a few steps away to lake living, you will find rest, peace of mind, fun in the sun, and serenity. Picture slow mornings with coffee and meals in the kitchen as you gaze into the water. Followed by sunbathing, lake activities, and lunch/dinners by the fire pit as you grill under the sun and stars. Our deck is perfect for both intimate and big groups to make memories together in the sleepy town of Cedar Lake. If you’re lucky you may even catch an evening of fireworks over the lake during the town’s regular programming. Kona Lake House thrives to make your stay as tranquil or as active as you please. Each floor has been designed with luxury and comfort in mind to help match the beautiful lake views you can see in almost every room! All three floors of the house entail having a designated bedroom and a bathroom. Each bedroom will ensure you have a good night’s rest, equipped with comfortable and luxurious bedding, and smart televisions. Every bathroom has been remodeled to be modern and fresh, with premium towels, and toiletries. The kitchen will be equipped with generous tools you will need to create indoor and outdoor meals. The property is professionally maintained e.g., routine indoor/outdoor cleaning, and insect control (although due to the nature of the property being on the lake, it is difficult to ensure that it will be bug free). MAIN FLOOR: Living Room: Entering the house, you will find a beautifully bright and decorated living room with impressive lake views that create the warm welcome only a lake house can provide. The living room has a large sectional that is perfect for families to have movie nights, along with a designated work desk for quiet remote working days. A rollaway bed can be provided for extra guests to set up in the living room upon request. Master bedroom and bathroom: The master bedroom has a comfortable king bed (children’s pack and play will be available upon request) and a smart TV for ample relaxation. Adjacent to the master bedroom is a newly designed bathroom with a new soaking tub, shower, and a double vanity. SECOND FLOOR: Kitchen and deck: Just a few steps from the main floor, you will find yourself in a bright and open kitchen with everything you need to make snacks and gourmet meals for your family, along with a new water filtration system to keep you hydrated. Exit the patio doors and you will find a deck for sunbathing and a second, impressive pavered brick deck made for entertaining and relaxation with plenty of outdoor seating, and a firepit for roasting marshmallows/enjoying the warmth of the fire, all perfectly situated next to a brand-new grill for your outdoor meals. On this floor, you will also have a private entrance for convenience. Bedroom/Lounge area: The guest room on the second floor serves as a seating area for lounging, along with a large television. It can also be transformed into a bedroom with a comfortable sofa pull out bed that sleeps two. Just close the French doors to make it a completely private room. Laundry room and bathroom: You will also find a laundry room with a washer and dryer, and a newly renovated bathroom on this floor. Detergent will be provided. THIRD FLOOR: Just down the steps, open the French doors to reveal an amazingly designed suite, with two double beds that can sleep four comfortably. The suite boats a beautiful fireplace made for cold evenings, and its own entrance for privacy (accessed through the deck and stairs from the garage). We have also built a third bathroom to this suite for privacy and convenience for guests staying on this level. An array of board games will be displayed in the hallway! RECREATION: From the board games, smart TVs indoors, and fast speed internet for high quality streaming, corn hole games, to the expansive deck overlooking the lake, and two private piers/parks where you can launch your own kayaks, fish, swim, and enjoy the beautiful sunrise/sunsets-- you will surely find ample things to do during your stay at our beautiful lake house! SWIMMING: Just steps away from the back deck is a small area for swimming, and water recreation activities. We are just a few steps away from the lake) there’s one cottage directly in front of us, but you have access to swim even if it says members only. Renting the property gives you those rights. There is a small area for swimming (it’s shallow and knee deep) where people use floaties and Lilly pads. To get a better swimming experience, just half a mile away is a public beach called the Fairgrounds near the Lighthouse restaurant. It is an actual beach with walk in access. There is a sand area for kids to play in as well. Many people float right off the pier, take a cooler, and just hang out all day. After a long day, the house becomes a haven as you look over the lake and watch the sunset. BOAT SLIP/DOCK RIGHTS: We do not have a boat slip for guests, although there is a dock right in front of our home. Due to liability issues and association rules, we can only direct our guests to use the guest launch to park their motorboats. Guests can trailer their boats in, and then use the public launch in the morning, and then they must pull out their boat by sunset. There is a public launch at the end north of the lake right around the turnabout and then a launch by the marina. The marina is called: Pinecrest Marina on the west side of the lake and south of our home. Currently we don’t know of pontoon and boat companies in town available for rentals. Feel like exploring? Immerse yourself in a historic lake house town, tucked away from it all, where you can enjoy low key dining in several restaurants, and fine dining at the famous Lighthouse Restaurant (make sure you get reservations and watch the sunset in their gazebo) just half a mile from our lake house. Check out historic Crown Point, just 15 minutes from the house for more exciting dining options, and near by towns to the north (under 25 minutes) with more expansive shopping and dining choices. Guest access Your stay at Kona Lakehouse will provide the following: 1. High speed Wi-Fi: Whether you are working remote to check e-mails, or want a family movie night, you won’t have to worry about not having reliable and high-speed internet connection! 2. Park and Lake Access: You have two HOA parks with lake rights even if the sign says “Members Only” there is one park directly across from the back deck of the house (we are just a few steps away from the lake) there’s one cottage directly in front of us, and there is a second park down the street on 134TH Place. You are allowed to fish, swim, and launch your kayaks in the water. 3. Parking: There is designated parking on the driveway, and the back side of the house near the garage. The garage is not accessible for parking unless it is winter. 4. Decks and fire pit: Find yourself in a unique gorgeous pavered patio enjoying the cozy fire pit, with the ambience created by the deck’s outdoor string lights, and heater lamp to help you enjoy those starry nights under the sky. 5. BBQ grill: Next to the firepit is a brand new propane grill to make the best of outdoor lake living. Enjoy creating your meals as you sip on drinks by your loved ones. 6. Games: In the garage you will find a ping pong table and corn hole game to transport to your area of choice. Our collection of board games will help create endless entertainment. 7. To ensure we create an environment for all guests to enjoy, we strive to maintain a clean and fresh property. We have a limit of 2 (well-behaved, neutered/spayed) pets per stay. A $250 pet deposit fee and a contract must be signed by guests with pets. Pets are $100 per pet, per stay. Pets are not allowed to be on the furniture. Guests must remove litter box, piddle pads, etc upon leaving or it will be taken out of the cleaning pet fee. A vacuum and broom will be readily available to help with the return of your pet deposit.
