We love it here because while we have built a house with awesome ocean & mountain views and US style comforts, we are still able to be immersed in "authentic" Mexico. All just steps from the beach! The remote village of Chimo is definitely not one of the typical tourist traps or all inclusives. They speak only Spanish, use only cash, and their livelihood comes from the ocean (not tourism). And they are so welcoming! *Also check out Casa Gracie on property if additional rental is needed* The space Casa Bendita is one of two houses on the property located on the property called Dos Hermanos. The houses are ideally situated to maximize privacy and are separated by a beautiful, shared garden area for additional privacy. The other house, Casa Gracie, can be rented at an additional cost and has the same floorplan as Casa Bendita (Casa Gracie has more reviews because the owners often stay in Casa Bendita themselves). See airbnb.com/h/doshermanos-casagracie for more details and availability. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Sierra Madre mountain range and village of Chimo, Casa Bendita is only separated by 150 steps from a secluded sandy beach. If secluded sandy beaches aren't your thing, you'll be perfectly content at Casa Bendita by simply enjoying the beautiful garden and the house's sweeping views of the ocean and natural landscape. Casa Bendita blends modern amenities (including Elon Musk's high-speed Starlink internet service) with rustic charm. The casa features spacious living space, with huge glass paneled doors that fill the space with natural light and sound, along with both covered and uncovered terraces. Enjoy the vistas even while cooking from your own fully equipped kitchen. The views continue to the master bedroom with a king size bed, and the second bedroom with four twin beds. Two of the twin beds can also be pushed together to make another king. As you fall asleep at night or in the sway of your hammock during a lazy afternoon siesta, you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean. Casa Bendita is situated above Chimo, which is located in the Cabo Corrientes region of Jalisco, Mexico on the Bay of Banderas. The region is serviced via the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. On clear nights, you will see the lights of Puerto Vallarta and Punta Mita across the bay from Chimo. Unlike Pizota, Quimixto, Yelapa and the Los Chonchos Eco Preserve, Chimo can be accessed by car, taxi or Uber from Puerto Vallarta via the village of El Tuito. Chimo is also accessible by boat, which we can help arrange. Chimo and the area boasts excellent fishing, hiking, beaches, and waterfalls. The village is small and quiet, so if you're looking for highrise resorts or nightlife, you won't find any in Chimo. Chimo only has a few hundred residents and has minimal services. The village of Chimo (less than a five minute walk from Casa Bendita) offers some dining options; albeit limited. Currently, Chimo has two beach side restaurants that primarily serves mariscos (seafood); although, an occasional hamburger may be had if you ask the waiter. If seafood isn't your craving, a taco stand is usually set up one block off the beach, on a dirt road, in front of Lety's small store. It's a bit of a hit or miss, but tacos are typically available Thursday - Sunday evenings sometime after 6 or 7 o'clock. We recommend tacos al pastor on Saturday nights and carnitas on Sunday mornings. In addition to the taco stand, on most Thursday - Sunday evenings, a local cocinera will set out tables in front of her casa for a pop-up restaurant of sorts. We recommend her shrimp tacos with an iced cold, glass bottle of Coca-Cola. A guest favorite for dining has been Maria, a local cook and friend from Chimo. She will prepare the food for you at Casa Gracie and clean up the dishes afterwards. She can make anything upon request, including breakfast, lunch or dinner at very reasonable prices. Guest favorites have included shrimp tacos (with special hot oil on the side), carne asada, fettuccine alfredo, fresh fish of the day, ceviche and chilaquiles for breakfast. If you prefer to do your own cooking, use fresh local produce. On Tuesday mornings, watch and listen for the produce truck that arrives each week in Chimo. You will hear the driver announce their arrival via their speaker system. Chimo also has three small 'corner' stores (hours vary) for basic grocery items, frozen meats and snacks. While liquor and wine options are limited, ask anyone locally, and they can direct you to where you can buy Raicilla. Raicilla is a moonshine made locally in the mountains that tastes similar to Mezcal, with its smokey undertones. Chimo has a beer store, selling your typical varieties of Mexican beers. Across from Yolis's beer store is the casa of a local fisherman who will gladly sell you fresh fish, octopus or lobster when available. His wife also sells ice cream. Any local fisherman will sell you their fresh caught fish ... you just need to ask a fisherman on the beach in the morning. For additional information on Casa Bendita and the area of Chimo, watch our videos on our YouTube channel: FindingChimo@doshermanos2021 If you have additional questions, find us on G Maps. Just search for Dos Hermanos in Chimo and select 'chat'. P.S. One last important point about Chimo and Dos Hermanos we would like to highlight...the location is very remote. Please see the "Other details to note" section of this listing for important travel information regarding this. And if you are a jet boat "always-on-the-go" type of traveler, you might be disappointed. Dos Hermanos and Chimo have more of a pontoon boat vibe. There are no ziplines, jet skis, para sails, take-a-picture-with-an-iguana vendors, beachchair towel games, or night clubs. Chimo is the place one goes to avoid the hustle and bustle of life and to slow down. Bring a book :0) Guest access Guests will have the entire house. Other things to note GETTING THERE The nearest airport is Puerto Vallarta. Unlike Pizota, Quimixto, Yelapa and the Los Chonchos Eco Preserve, Chimo can be accessed by car, taxi or Uber from Puerto Vallarta via the village of El Tuito. We also have a friend that will pick you up in his private boat for a reasonable price if that is preferred, just ask and we can set it up for you. REMOTE LOCATION To reiterate, this is a remote, rural location, which is part of the adventure. It is a beautiful drive and the road gets less and less traveled as you go, ending with a dirt road. There are a couple of restaurants and stores offering the basics, and they deal exclusively in cash. And there may be insects (although Casa Bendita is fully screened). BEACH ACCESS In order to maximize the sweeping views of the coastline and mountain range, we built our house on a hillside. Therefore, it's a short (approximately 150 steps), but moderate climb from the beach up to the property. If you have mobility issues it would be difficult. There is a longer and easier path if you follow our driveway. If you have a 4x4 you can drive to the house from the beach. LAUNDRY, CLEANING, AND COOKING SERVICES If you need to have laundry done on vacation, laundry service can be arranged. The service is reasonably priced, as no one should have to fold laundry while on vacation. Also for a reasonable fee, we have a friend that will cook for you in our home, and also do additional daily cleaning if that is desired. RAINY SEASON The rainy season in Cabo Corrientes runs approximately from June - September/October. The rainy season does not mean all day washouts. During the "rainy season", a typical day is sunny with a period of thunderstorms for an hour or two. Whereas, the dry season is marked by sunny days, with absolutely no precipitation for months at a time. If staying during the rainy season, please be advised that the entire Cabo Corrientes region experiences power outages during rainfalls. The power outages can last several hours. However, we have a generator that can be used for short periods in order to power lights or the router. In addition to more frequent power outages, the road to Chimo can also be more challenging during the rainy season. If you have a 4x4 vehicle, you shouldn't have any problems. If not, it is advisable to take a boat to Chimo during the rainy season.
