Art Camp
Welcome to Art Camp. Art camp is a Bell Tent hosted by ceramic artist Ani Kasten at her homestead and ceramics studio. Offering a unique, comfortable and inspiring respite, surrounded by nature and art, Art Camp was created to meld enjoyment of the outdoors with art and creativity. Fun fact – this property was the original location for Franconia Sculpture Park, which is now located just a mile to the west on Hwy 8. You’ll still spot remaining sculptures and equipment from that time. The space Art Camp bell tent is located at the back of our meadow, where guests will be visited by our flock of free range chickens and ducks. Art Camp is a farm stay at your host’s gardens and pottery, and you will see us out in the garden and around the yard, tending to our animals and working in the yard. Art Camp is located near a rural highway and is not a wilderness camping experience. You are invited to visit my pottery and enjoy time in the garden seating area by request. Guest access Your tent area is located by our fruit tree orchard, behind the vegetable garden. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the yard, but the areas up near the house are shared with your hosts. The tent has its own seating area, hammock and fire pit for cooking and enjoying the outdoors with privacy from our yard. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden seating area and visit the pottery gallery by request. Other things to note Art Camp is not a wilderness camping experience. Our tent is located at the back of our meadow and you will see us working in the garden and about the yard. Art Camp is located near a rural highway and there IS traffic noise, especially during the day. We provide a white noise machine for the tent, for guests that are more sensitive sleepers, as well as ear plugs and a fan. The tent is equipped with a power strip, wifi, camping lanterns, an electric kettle, drinking water, coffee and tea supplies, small firewood for the tent stove, Turkish towels, soap and shampoo, a headlamp, bug spray, and a few camping necessities. For glamping we suggest packing supplies for campfire cooking and whatever supplies you might need for camping. There is no refrigerator. We supply firewood for the tent stove only, and we ask guests to bring camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit. There is a charcoal grill available, but you will need to supply your own charcoal. There is also a cast-iron grill and griddle for using over the outdoor campfire. The tent is outfitted with luxury linens and pillows, a comforter and extra blankets. For hot nights there is a fan in the tent. Your host can provide seasonal produce boxes from the on site garden for purchase, as well as fresh eggs from our chickens. Guests are also invited to visit the on site pottery gallery by appointment. You can arrange for these items at check in.
