The Book House
Relax and enjoy small town life within steps of all the shops, restaurants, and beautiful waterfront parks. We're excited to open up our cottage and share everything we love about Marine City with new and old visitors. Whether you're coming for a weekend away, an extended vacation, or to visit for a special event The Book House has all the amenities of home. The space As an old maritime home, this 1899 house was built with a focus on natural light and airflow. Tall ceilings, plaster walls, and big shade trees mean the living space stays naturally cool in the summer (though we do have a couple a/c units for the hottest days). You'll find it has a few quirks, notably the only bathroom is upstairs! Folks were shorter in the 19th century, and so are the railings on the landing. Speaking of stairs - they're fairly steep, but if you look closely you'll see a few of the remaining square nails that they were built with. Those are just a few of the things that make our home unique - we hope you come discover more! And when you want to venture outside, the back deck is perfect for relaxing with your morning coffee or gathering for dinner after a day of shopping. There is plenty of space in the tiny yard to set up a game of Kubb, which you'll find in the kitchen pantry cupboard. On foggy mornings you can sit on the front porch swing and enjoy the quiet as you wait to hear the freighter horns making their way down the river. Guest access There is keypad entry on the front door, and you'll have the whole living space to yourself. Other things to note We do have some days blocked for our own use or convenience but can be flexible - please contact us if you're not seeing the dates you need and we'll do our best to accommodate!
