Bring Your Own Tent (2) - Camping Barbados
Bring your own tent and choose your spot. Please bring your own towel and toiletries. The space Camping Barbados East Coast is a mixed pitch campspace with communal facilities amidst swaying coconut trees and spectacular views of the Atlantic breakers on the secluded windward side of the island. We are off the beaten path and surrounded by acres of unspoilt natural beauty. A great base for exploring, bushcraft, hiking, rock climbing, cycling, surfing and if you prefer, just relaxing and watching the day go by. Our back-to-basics site has a 7 acre coconut tree fringed hayfield with spacious grass pitches and a shaded forest area with a pond and stream with cray fish, tadpoles and frogs. We have fishing nets for little explorers interested in wildlife. The communal cabin is an old style Bajan traditional chattle house with a bathroom with a hot-water shower, flushing toilet, sink and shaver charging port. The kitchenette with a sink, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster oven, hotplates, coolers and basic utensils allows guests to prepare basic meals even when the rain decides to fall. There is an indoor seating area with books, board games and puzzles. The covered deck is perfect for stringing a hammock, group activities and making new friends. We have fire pits for chatting around, roasting breadfruit and marshmallows for your evening smores. You can purchase firewood or collect for free from our forest floor. There is a local fishing village (10 minutes’ walk) where the bay is perfect for a paddle in shallow waves and catching the local fishermen for the freshest fish and lobster on the island. There is a restaurant and bar open from 12:00 - 19:00 for local dishes and drinks with a sea view. Thursdays is fish fry night and the bar opens till late offering a great opportunity to meet with islanders out socialising. The sparsely populated village has a tiny shop selling snacks and basic essentials, a traditional Bajan rum shop where you'll receive the warmest welcome, affordable cooked food and drinks. Be prepared to be challenged to a game of pool. There isn't a supermarket or cash machine but you can visit Lisa nearby to pick up farm fresh fruit and veg, if you don't feel like the short walk, you can place a telephone order and Lisa will deliver. Most major supermarkets offer next day delivery too! Guest access Guests have access to the whole campsite, the hayfireld, forest area and communal cabin housing the kitchenette, bathroom, a seating area and covered deck. Please do not sleep or smoke in the cabin. There is a fridge freezer, coolers, cupboard and storage containers for storing food. Please do not leave food on the shelves or worktops. There is a small storage area for suitecases and backpacks, please ensure your items are contained, and neatly stored. For the comfort of all guests, the safety of your property and to allow our housekeeper to keep the space clean, please do not leave shoes, clothing or other personal items in the living areas. Please return borrowed items promptly for other guests to use. Our house keeper lives adjacent and visits twice a week. You can request an additional clean or service wash by message but please do not leave dishes for her to clean. The provided bins are to be kept outside at all times. You will find replacement garbage bags under the kitchen sink. Please ensure the bin lids are secure and bags are tied if you need to transfer from the daily bin to the main bin that is collected by the sanitation department. Other things to note All of our listings are for stays on a campsite. Whilst you will have no trouble finding a private spot to pitch on our 7 acre hayfield and forest camp spaces, it is very likely other guests will be onsite sharing the communal grounds and facilities. If you are looking for a space with private facilities please ask about our urban pitches. You may encounter wildlife such as monkeys, mongoose, frogs, lizards, butterflies, hummingbirds, fireflies, millipedes, ants, spiders, crickets, crayfish and the occasional field mouse as you would in any wild setting in the tropics. We bait the shared areas on a monthly basis and set traps in the forest to protect against vermin. Our hayfield is harvested as animal feed, sometimes it may be high. While we maintain the area around the shared facilities and keep the grass there low for camping we cannot cut a whole hayfield for your stay. Our forest spaces have a stream and pond, children should be supervised at all times. There are many mature coconut trees surrounding the hayfield and in the bottom forest area. Our trees are harvested by a dedicated team. Please be aware that fronds and coconuts are likely to fall from time to time and avoid pitching your tent or hanging hammocks underneath mature trees without using a tarp to break their fall. The top and middle forest area have younger trees allowing shaded pitching without the use of tarps. LEAVE NO TRACE Please do not drive nails Into trees to hang your hammocks or tarps. Please do not carve your name into them. Please do no harm to the wildlife, we have nets for catching and releasing wildlife from the pond, please don't use them on butterflies or hummingbirds. Please pack out everything you bring in placing all garbage in a tied bag in the collection bin by the cabin or roadside. We offer discounts on group bookings and longer stays. Should your group size change or you request a date change, or check out early, discounts afforded at the time of booking may not apply and refunds may not be available. We expect guests to read our listings before requesting a stay. Should you have any questions or concerns or need any clarity, please ensure to ask questions before you book. Should you have any questions or concerns during your stay please let us know. Any damage to rented tents, equipment or facilities should be reported immediately. We do not allow unregistered guests or visitors onsite due to the capacity of our facilities, safety of our guests and for insurance compliance. Day guests and visitors can be added for $5 per person per day and $15 per person per night. Visitors and guest must be registered before entering our campsite.
