"The Cabin" - Cozy & Rustic Home (Averill Park)
This luxurious log cabin, nestled on 200+ acres of private, expansive wilderness, is the perfect escape. Enjoy sunrise from the front porch, grill on the back deck and explore the 18-hole disc golf course, tranquil Japanese garden, croquet court, swimming pool and multiple walking trails throughout the forest property. Jiminy Peak Ski Resort, the Berkshires, and Saratoga Springs are all nearby. All amenities are provided with a personal touch that will make your stay relaxed and memorable. The space My parents built this log cabin home, affectionately and aptly called "the Cabin", on our shared property about 25 years ago. They've since moved away but have left behind great family memories as well as their personal design taste, which blends rustic aesthetics and indulgent home comforts. This space is about as secluded as it gets - the Cabin is at the end of a quarter-mile long driveway and surrounded by quiet forest on all sides. You are guaranteed peace and quiet as you explore the surrounding nature, work remotely or enjoy a vacation with loved ones. The open-plan living space allows families and friends to cook, eat and relax while enjoying a unique view of the surrounding Rensselaer Plateau. The kitchen is fully stocked for all of your cooking needs and has a coffee and tea bar with a coffee maker and hot water kettle. There is a dishwasher, gas stove, microwave, toaster, condiments and a wide variety of cooking utensils. There's a desk available for remote work and high speed WiFi. There are also books, playing cards, board games and some toys as well as two TVs with access to cable and streaming. The ground level primary bedroom suite boasts a remote adjustable queen bed, a full bathroom and a comfy pull-out couch (queen) in front of a 65 inch smart TV. The windows look out onto the eastern horizon. There's ample closet space and enough room to set up a dog bed or pack 'n play. The upper level has a bedroom with a queen size bed and closet space, a full bathroom with a bathtub and a laundry room with available washer and dryer. There is a small TV room with a futon that can be converted into a full-sized bed. The TV is 43 inches and has a DVD player, cable and Netflix. Cabin fever? The front porch is part open air, part screened and has an incredible view of the sunrise each morning, a sloping meadow and modern art sculptures. The back porch has a grill available for use and an outdoor dining area. Behind the Cabin there is a small indoor/outdoor saltwater pool that is heated and available from May through September. The pool is less than three feet deep and not quite long enough to swim laps in, but has hosted countless children's pool parties and is perfect for playtime. The property has a croquet court with available equipment and instructions for use. Never played? Now's your chance! The playing area can also be used for other lawn games. There's a court-side patio with an outdoor fire pit (firewood provided) and seating, perfect for gazing up at a clear starry sky. There is an 18-hole private disc golf course and discs that are available for use. There are also relatively well marked trails that are perfect for hiking, snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing. We are more than happy to provide trail recommendations and there is cell service throughout the property if you lose your way. The Cabin is a 15-minute drive from Averill Park, a little town with a grocery store that can meet all your basic needs and a few dining options. Within an hour of driving are the beautiful Berkshires, Saratoga Springs, Albany, Troy, and Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort. Guest access There are two locked closets with security cameras inside. Please do not attempt to enter. There is also a workshop that is unavailable for use with security cameras. This space is unlocked for emergency exit only.
