It is set in a very serene yet accessible locale close to wonderful restaurants, entertainment, night life and not to mention beautiful Lake Michigan. You’ll find all you need to relax and enjoy yourself in the thoughtfully appointed retreat where you will be treated as our guest. WHEN YOU WANT TO GET AWAY… Located just 70 miles from downtown Chicago and minutes from Lake Michigan beaches and harbors, this quaint home is on a corner lot with plenty of room to spread out and relax. Those who want to relieve stress and avoid the hustle and bustle of city life will find plenty of opportunities while vacationing in the wonderful environment offered by this home. Michiana Shores offers a unique blend of pastoral settings, beautiful beaches, and the convenience of nearby shopping/entertainment/sports/fun. It also provides a reasonable commute to and from Chicago via several routes including two trains and 80/94. You will find yourself breathing deeper and relaxing like never before in this wondrous atmosphere. We hope that you will enjoy it as we all do. OUTSIDE SETTING Our 1947 Cape Cod style cottage is situated on a large corner lot with beautiful landscaping. There’s a good chance you will see horses trot by as they go to the stables from the field just a few blocks down the street. If you, the stables are just a few blocks away. The expansive backyard yields plenty of room for fun and games! There’s a croquet set in the shed for a bit of old-fashioned fun. Or relax the day away in the hammock dozing as the chipmunks scurry about and the deer nibble the leaves and curiously check out your activities. Gather your family and friends for a BBQ, romantic dinner under the stars, or a game of cards. The grill is ready for your burgers, steaks, ribs, and other delicious treats. Some evenings the only sound you will hear is that of the acorns falling from the mighty oaks in the yard. Sit and enjoy while spotting the constellations…you’ll see every star in the sky! The main floor has the kitchen, dining room, living room, fireplace, master bedroom, and s bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed. There are 2 TVs on the main floor (kitchen, living room). THE BASEMENT The finished basement (aka man cave) has comfortable lounging couches and a gorgeous bathroom. UPSTAIRS Upstairs is a finished attic with one full and 2 trundle beds that can sleep 2-4 people. KITCHEN The kitchen has a cottage feel and the amenities you would want. The kitchen is stocked with all conveniences, small appliances, dishes, pots and pans, glasses, and utensils. There should be no need to bring anything from home, it’s all here for you to use. It is loaded with gourmet condiments for your use. A TRUE GETAWAY While at our home, you will have that “getting away from it all” feeling. But if you’re in the mood for nice restaurants, New Buffalo is 5 miles north and downtown Michigan City is 5 miles south. If you prefer, there is a wonderful restaurant (Stop 50 Pizza) within walking distance from our home. THE BEACHES The stress of everyday life melts away the instant you arrive at any of the beaches near our cottage. Whether you’re relaxing on the beach as gentle waves lap the shore around you, strolling along the shore, or playing frisbee, it’s apparent why people choose to spend their vacation along this side of Lake Michigan. Other things to note Please know you are in the woods. This means: -There are critters out there. -While we do have regularly scheduled pest control, the outdoor life does find its way in occasionally. Yes, the house is clean but a spider can spin a web in no time!
