The Cabana at Stonehaven - Glamping w/ Pickleball!
Stonehaven, the Quarry on Treasury Hill, is an amazing property featuring a 2-acre, crystal-clear spring-fed freshwater pool surrounded by granite ledges and cliffs, with walking trails, sculpture park, Zen Garden, private pickleball court, decks, rafts, kayaks, paddle boards, bridges, fire pit, and interesting history & geology. The Cabana at Stonehaven is the ultimate in glamping - a cozy, private space overlooking the quarry where you can relax and unwind off the grid. The space The Cabana is a cozy space with a small bedroom (queen bed, closet, shelves), a large wood-paneled sitting room with vaulted ceiling and tons of windows, a pantry/kitchenette and two large decks. Surrounding it are wide open granite ledges leading to an amazing spring-fed quarry that's up to 95-ft deep. There are sculptures and walking trails around the quarry, petroglyphs carved into the cliffs that are viewed by kayak, a pair of unique bridges and a private pickleball court. It is truly a stunning property with an interesting history & geology. Regarding cooking facilities, the kitchenette has a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, full refrigerator with freezer, an induction cooking plate, plus silverware, plates, glassware and cooking utensils. There is a large gas grill outside with a side burner and grilling utensils. We can set up a 2-burner Coleman stove if you need it. Although there are lots of great restaurants within 30 minutes, we do have enough amenities for you to cook your own meals (just not an oven). Guest access Guests will have access to the Cabana, its decks and open spaces, the quarry, the trails, the pickleball court, the sculpture park, and the watercraft. The area immediately around the main house and its outbuildings (barn, sheds, stone carving pavilion) is a private residence and is not accessible to guests unless they are on a guided tour with the host. Other things to note Important Note: Stonehaven is a formerly abandoned quarry with deep water, high cliffs, slippery exposed granite ledges, unstable multi-ton slabs of granite, and sharp rocks all over the place. Therefore it is NOT suitable for children, given these safety concerns. Why this is a "glamping" venue: 1) The Cabana has no indoor plumbing. The bathroom is a very clean porta-john about 100 feet away that will only be used by you (it's not a public toilet). There is an outdoor shower that has no hot water (it's room-temperature water, whatever the surface of the quarry is - about 70 to 80 degrees F in Aug/Sept). The bathtub is a slight depression in the granite ledge filled with clean quarry water. The sun does heat it up a little warmer than the shower, but not a lot. However, the quarry water is a mineral water and makes your hair soft and silky. Truly! 2) The kitchen has no stove or oven. However, it does have a few appliances (small microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker), a full-sized refrigerator / freezer, and an induction hot plate. Outside, there is a gas grill with a side burner. And if you're really cooking, we also have a 2-burner Coleman stove. 3) There is no sink or dishwasher. We will provide a bin for dirty dishes, which we will remove once or twice a day, clean them at the main house and bring back the clean dishes, glassware, pots & utensils. So, that's a plus - you don't have to do dishes. Yay! 4) The Cabana is unheated. Not really a problem in the summer / early fall seasons. We have plenty of blankets to add to the bed for cool nights. Plus, the fire pit by the water will warm you up before you go to bed. 5) The Cabana has no WiFi, TV or Cable. We're not totally off the grid - there is cell service, depending on your carrier. But the Cabana is a place to unplug, relax, and enjoy the natural setting and artistry of Stonehaven. So, yeah, this is glamping. You have a cozy Cabana, queen bed, sitting room, tons of deck space & patio furniture, an amazing setting and quite a few other amenities not typically found at a tent platform in the woods. When you're here, you'll feel like you have an amazing resort all to yourself. And there are dozens of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, farm stands and supermarkets within a 15-minute drive. It's private, quiet, wooded seclusion - but not the boonies.
