Cozy 3 BR mountain cottage w/large screened porch
Black Fox Cabin is a beautifully decorated, 3-bedroom cabin nestled on a quiet hill in the NC mountains. From the spacious, screened-in porch, enjoy serene mountain views & the soul-soothing sounds of the nearby Cullasaja River. With comfy beds, a wine bar, a cozy bay window seat, hammock swings, lounge chairs, a well-stocked kitchen, interior & exterior dining areas, & more, you’re sure to find your inner peace here! Convenient to both Franklin & Highlands, with grocery stores nearby. The space Location: Black Fox Cabin is a convenient 2-2.5 hour drive from Atlanta, Greenville, & Chattanooga, so it 's the perfect place to visit when you want to escape the city! Situated at the bottom of the Cullasaja River Gorge, the house is an easy 10-15 minute drive from downtown Franklin and a 20-25 minute drive along the scenic Highlands Road to downtown Highlands. About 15 minutes up the road is Dry Falls - where you can park and walk behind the waterfall - and Bridal Veil Falls - a roadside waterfall that's popular for photo ops. We're also in near proximity to the Nantahala National Forest, Siler Bald (a relatively short hike up to spectacular 360-degree mountain views), Wayah Bald, and numerous other hikes to waterfalls and gorgeous scenery. The Cullasaja runs along our road and can easily be accessed by a short walk. If you turn left out of the driveway, you'll follow the river and enjoy scenic views of the mountains. To the right, you can follow the road up to a historic schoolhouse while enjoying close-up views and river access at the bridges. Eating/Dining: With easy access to both Franklin & Highlands, you'll have plenty of eating options, ranging from inexpensive local dives to upscale restaurants. For groceries, we have two large Ingles Markets within 20 minutes of the house. And should you prefer to cook, you'll not only have access to our fully-stocked kitchen -- with a large variety of pots, pans, oils, & spices -- but we also invite you to enjoy fresh rosemary, thyme, sage, basil, & other seasonal herbs that we grow in our kitchen garden. If eating in, dine al fresco around the outdoor dining table on the screened-in porch, or enjoy your dinner indoors around the spacious kitchen island. In the morning, prepare a large pot of coffee in the coffeemaker, or use the stovetop espresso pot and milk steamer to channel your inner barista! If tea is your preference, a kettle and an assortment of bagged and loose-leaf teas are at your disposal. Bedrooms: The unique master bedroom is part of an open, lofted area on the upper floor of the home and features a king-sized bed and ample clothing storage. For those wanting more privacy, the two additional rooms will suit your needs -- the upper bedroom features an additional king bed, and the downstairs bed is a queen. All of the beds feature soft cotton or linen bedding and down comforters. Bathrooms: There is a full bathroom on each level, and basic toiletries and bath linens are provided. The upstairs bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower, and the downstairs bathroom has a traditional bathtub/shower combination. Living Areas & Yoga Room: Downstairs, the living room is the perfect place to relax -- read, play a game (board and card games are located in the cabinets), listen to tunes on the record player, or enjoy a fire in the stone fireplace. In the upstairs loft, you can watch a movie or -- if you need to squeeze in a little work during your vacation -- use the complimentary WiFi and home office. If you're a yogi, you might want to "nama-stay" in the sunroom (fondly nicknamed "the yoga room") and vinyasa with a view -- a mat and props are available for your use. Porch: If you're like us, you'll likely spend most of your "house time" on the screened-in back porch. With four hammock chairs, two lounge chairs, a daybed, and an outdoor dining table, the porch is the perfect spot to take in picturesque mountain views and be lulled by the gentle sounds of the river. Enjoy sunrise views as well as lovely views of the moon and stars. And should you need a bit of extra light, you'll have a variety or romantic lighting options -- string lights, a candelabra chandelier, porch sidelights, and a bamboo overhead -- most of which have dimmer switches. On the rare days when the temperatures climb, the porch fan provides a cooling breeze. Out & About: In our guest book, we provide helpful information about the area including favorite hiking trails, attractions, and various dining options. If you need help planning your visit prior to your arrival, we're happy to be of assistance! In case you're wondering... Yes! This is the same Black Fox Cabin that had almost a hundred 5-star reviews and that was run by Logan. I was one of her many repeat visitors, and Logan knew how much I loved the cabin. When she got overwhelmed with running both Black Fox and her newly-launched business in town (Bent Willow Bakery), she asked if I'd be interested in taking over. I jumped at the chance! The cabin is every bit as magical as before, and we've added numerous upgrades as well. Guest access Other than the garage and owner's closet, all areas of the house are accessible. Other things to note Black Fox Cabin isn't suited for those traveling with infants or children under the age of 12. (We have a glassed-in yoga room with beveled glass doors, white rugs, etc.) Due to liability concerns, we kindly ask that you don't bring guests who aren't a part of your reservation to the property.
