Large, Pet-Friendly Home in Kalavan
This large, charming house is Kalavan's only pet-friendly accommodation. Share a house with cute kitties and a super-friendly doggo named Popoke (Walnut). Bring your cats or dogs, so long as they are friendly with other animals. I offer a sanctuary for thoughtful and artistic people seeking privacy and a healthy amount of isolation. My house features books, musical instruments, good wifi, and comfortable places to reflect and work. The space My spacious house is a blend of old-style Armenian village architecture and modern comforts, including good Wifi, television, video games, musical instruments, and a large library of books. Bonus: My house now hosts the first convenience store in Kalavan. You won't have to drive back into town every time you want to buy simple food ingredients, cigarettes, etc. It's small for now, but the inventory is always expanding. Guest access You will have a private room on the top floor, an attached bathroom, and access to the rest of the house, such as the media room, kitchen, and outdoor patio areas. During your stay I am available to help you arrange transportation, such as a taxi from Dilijan or Ijevan if you don't have a car (usually around 7,000 or 8,000 dram). I can also tell you what to bring for your stay here in terms of food and conveniences and what is already here. All this depends on your requirements and length of stay. Other things to note In Kalavan, you can be somewhat separated from their familiar world. When I first moved here in 2019, I felt like I was living at the edge of the Earth. There was little unwanted intrusion into my life from the outside world because only people who were very determined to get involved in my life would bother to. Kalavan stands out for its sense of separation from Armenia, as well as the government's efforts to improve the economy and infrastructure here. The population is quite small, featuring less than 150 residents. This lends to its sense of isolation from the cities and towns of Armenia and their expectations. Kalavan is located less than an hour from Dilijan and Ijevan (about 2.5 hours from Yerevan) in the direction of Chambarak. It is the last village at the end of about 20 minutes of unpaved road, just after Dprabak and Barepat. Its 1,600-meter elevation means that it remains significantly cooler than Yerevan throughout the year. While summer is warm, it’s not unbearable, and air conditioning is not required. Winters run slightly longer but are easily managed through a combination of wood and coal furnaces and sun-facing windows. The last 20 minutes of road up to Kalavan is unpaved and a little rough but manageable in most cars. I can arrange a pickup if you are unable to find transportation for this final stretch of the journey.
