The Prillerman House was built in the early 1900’s by students of then West Virginia Collegiate Institute, now known as West Virginia State University located in Institute, WV. The house was built for Byrd Prillerman, the first President of the institution, and his family. President Prillerman was granted a salary of $1,250.00 per year and the residence as compensation.
