The space An original "Mayfield" kit house from the 1930s, this home has been recently remodeled but preserves its historical character with original doors, oak wood floors, bathroom tile and large windows throughout. It offers both comfort and style with modern furniture, plush beds, and thoughtful amenities. The completely remodeled cottage-style kitchen features stunning water views, unique historic light fixtures and is equipped a with new gas range and other appliances. The large island is perfect for meal preparation and seats four. The kitchen is completely stocked with utensils, dishes, cookware, and small appliances. A coffee maker with K-Cup pods and fresh drip coffee beans and grinder are complementary. A more formal dining experience can be enjoyed in the elegant pink dining room, with seating for six. The bathrooms are fully stocked with soaps, body wash, shampoos, bath towels, makeup towels, hair dryers and plenty of toilet paper. The bedrooms are furnished with new mattresses, linens and built-in outlets on the side tables for charging your devices. Luggage stands are also provided in each bedroom. A washer, dryer and detergent are available to you during your stay should you need them. The formal living area includes a surprisingly comfortable pull-out sofa bed. The sunroom at the rear of the house is the perfect hangout spot with a large tv and even larger couch! The expansive deck features a recessed hot tub, a hammock for relaxation, fans and a large TV for game nights. Also included is an outdoor dining area, comfortable sectional and a relaxing swing undercover. Down the stairs, the dock offers easy access to the river and provides front-row seats for the spectacular Christmas Festival fireworks and a great place to tie up your boat. A public boat launch is available less than a mile down the road. For those requiring handicap access, the deck is designed with a handicap ramp connecting to the side driveway. This also provides handicapped access to the rest of the house. Location is key, with the home ideally situated just off historic Front Street. Nearby you can visit local restaurants, take a walking tour of the downtown area, enjoy a carriage ride, or embark on a river boat adventure. You can discover Kaffie-Fredericks, Louisiana's oldest functioning general store, and delve into history at the historic Fort St. Jean Baptiste. Visit the “Steel Magnolias” house and other sites of the award-winning film. Guest access During your stay, you will have exclusive access to the entire house, including all the indoor and outdoor spaces. Please note that while the large majority of areas are accessible, there are a couple of spaces that are off-limits for guests. The storage shed is not available for guest use. Additionally, there is a locked storage closet and a designated cabinet in the kitchen reserved for the hosts' use. Parking is a breeze with enough space to accommodate up to four cars. The gravel parking space on the left of the home is reserved for the neighboring house but the driveway on the right and the circle drive in front are for your exclusive use. Other things to note There is one, actively recording doorbell camera on the front door facing outwards which records video and audio. This device is the only such device on the property and is on the exterior of the house.
