Welcome to the Genkan, a transformed haven that was once a welder's garage. Modern, spacious, and private with stunning woodland views. Ideal for two people (2 more guests permitted with a fee to setup cots). Walking distance to Scituate Harbor, yet serene. Unwind in the open layout, enjoy nature's tranquility through large windows. Comfortable sleeping arrangements and open layout. Each item carefully curated with its own story. A labor of love, The Genkan offers a unique Scituate retreat. The space The space offers two large zones: the Great Room and the Guest Room. The Great Room (downstairs) has 3 comfy couches, some art supplies (music and visual art) and board games. The Guest Room (upstairs) is a studio with living, dining and sleeping areas, all in one open layout. It also features a kitchenette, roof deck and full bathroom. The space is optimal for 2 people, but we also have 2 twin cots that can be placed in the Great Room upon request (extra fee). Outside, you will have access to a private backyard seating area and an outdoor shower (seasonally available, that we - the hosts - will also use too). Guest access You can access the Great Room, Guest Room, and the back of the building. Our general rule is that if you see double doors, they lead to private spaces, not accessible to guests. This includes the black double doors at the front of the building, and the white double doors in the Great Room. Other things to note Our space is a labor of love and one that we use when guests are not here. We appreciate guests taking good care of our little sanctuary and coming here for the peace and tranquility it provides. If something breaks or isn't working, let us know ASAP so we can take care of it for you. The space also has some quirks - so please read the home manual with detail!
