To book the entire property on its own please do so here: airbnb.com/h/crosshillcabinandglampinggetaway. * Cross Hill Cabin is a true mid-century log cabin, custom cut, shaped and hewn-by-hand. Its builder was an avid collector, musician and lover of the outdoors. Over the years it has served as a family retreat and hunting lodge. Much of the cabin's original look and character has been preserved and it is a testament to country living and a respite from the modern world. The cabin is remote in the country side, but that doesn't mean you can't stay connected. It has high-speed Wi-Fi and an entertainment system for streaming all your favorite movies and shows. It is heated by propane and a wood burning stove and keeps a moderate temperature year round. We will provide the firewood. There is no AC but we provide fans. There is a full bath, an open living room and dining area and a classic country kitchen with antique Roper stove. It is fully stocked with plates, cups, bowls, flatware, cooking utensils, spices and basic staples like salt, sugar, coffee and tea for your comfort and enjoyment. Imagine after a hearty dinner, spending a summer evening on the covered porch overlooking the pond at sunset. Smoke a pipe in the gazebo, have a cup of tea, or that well deserved glass of wine. Enjoy the mountains, then light up the fire pit and roast some marshmallows or snuggle up around the wood stove with some hot chocolate. When the day is done, retreat to your cozy sleeping loft with enough space to sleep 5 or head to the sleeping quarters on the first floor with a single bed. For more than 6 guests, there is a convertible queen-size futon and air mattresses available upon request. Guests will enjoy roaming this 18-acre property with its open fields, wooded game trails, 1-acre pond, large apple orchard, "ninja" course and hammocks. There is a place to relax and explore for everyone of every age. In the winter, feel free to bring your cross-country skis, snow shoes and sleds. In the warmer months, there is a paddle boat available. The fall is a special time to roam through the splendid colored foliage, picking and tasting crisp apples along the way. Restock and take a break from the country in downtown Cobleskill just 5 minutes away. Many guests enjoy the stores, restaurants and bars of this small college town. For even more outdoor adventures make sure to check out Howe Caverns and Mallet Pond State Forest nearby. In addition, Windham Mountain with world-class skiing is about 40 minutes away, and Oneonta is about an hour drive. We fell in love with this property the moment we saw it. We know you will feel the same and can't wait to share it with you! Guest access The cabin shares the property with a glamping site. If you would like to book the glamping site please use this link: airbnb.com/h/crosshillglamping. If you would like to book the entire property which includes this cabin and the tent please use this link: airbnb.com/h/crosshillcabinandglampinggetaway. If you book just the cabin you may end up sharing the driveway and pond area with guests from the tent. If you want complete privacy I would recommend booking the entire property at the link above. Please take care with your children and pets around the pond. There is a small paddle boat that you can use. The pond is spring fed and clean but at the moment we are working on fixing the dock and making it more accessible, please excuse the appearance until we are finished. In the meantime you can feel free to swim at your own risk. While the property is well maintained near the cabin and pond it does get a little rougher at the bottom of the hill, please be aware that you are in the mountains and you are sharing the property with wildlife. Please do not litter on the property and take out what you take in. Make sure to inspect yourself and your children for ticks. You may try your luck in the pond with fishing, but we practice catch and release. We have fishing gear that you may borrow. There is a deposit associated with that so please let us know if you intend to use it. Hunting is also permitted on the property. Please ask us before hand if you plan to hunt and let us know your plans. We expect all hunting parties to follow state game laws and have the appropriate licensing. Other things to note It has come to our attention that the water pressure in the cabin will go out if the shower is run for a time or there is high water usage. If this happens you will need to wait 1 hour and reset the pump. Please try to conserve water by taking shorter showers while we are working on a fix for this. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns. Thanks for your understanding. In addition, please know that you are getting a true log cabin with your booking. This is not a hotel and is in the country side. If you are looking for a spa, pool and mini fridge then we suggest booking a hotel. If you want a clean comfortable, rustic cabin with beautiful views, a clean spring fed pond, cool night breezes, wildlife and some adventure then you have come to the right place:).
