Cozy waterfront camp, loons!
Unwind and reconnect with nature at this cozy, rustic camp with a spectacular lake view and private waterfront. Seasonal camp with 100' sandy waterfront on pristine 3584 acre Great Moose Lake in Hartland, ME. The space Great Moose is known for it's clean water quality and abundant wildlife: waterfowl, wading birds, deer and moose, bald eagles, osprey, owls, and one of the largest loon populations in the state. Excellent fishing, too: cold/warm water fishery includes small and large mouth bass, brown trout, brook trout, landlocked salmon, pickerel, perch, smelt, and cusk. You can fish off the shore or dock. Enjoy our 3 kayaks (2 singles and 1 tandem) and launch from the waterfront, or head to nearby public boat launch for larger motor boats (there is no mooring or dock large enough to accommodate motorboats at the property--please plan accordingly). The lake is largely undeveloped and is not a busy "boat traffic" lake like other more populated lakes (Sebago, Belgrade Lakes regions). It is truly a serene place to unwind. There are various rafts and lifejackets for use, along with kayaks (3). The private waterfront is sandy and drops off gradually--perfect for swimming. There is a strip of beach as well to set up chairs and sit in or out of the sun. A dock to fish, sunbathe, or jump into the lake. The private dirt road is perfect for walking and biking as there is rarely a car that goes by. Please note that the road does run between the camp and the waterfront. There are only a few camps past ours, and all camps on the road are seasonal aside from 3 or 4, so it's very quiet, peaceful, and rural. We do have various bike sizes that have been well loved. In the evening, pull up the Adirondack chairs around one of the firepits, listen to the loons, and do some stargazing. Firepit in front of the camp, and another one down by the water, each with Adirondack chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with all cooking and eating utensils, propane stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee makers, electric kettle, blender, toaster, can opener, corkscrew, wine glasses, etc. Out the back door is a propane grill (not in pristine shape, but it cooks food). Bedrooms: **Main bedroom: queen bed nestled into the trees with a waterview, sitting area, and a wall TV (no Wifi), privacy door **2nd bedroom space is a bunkroom and OPEN CONCEPT: full/full and twin/twin. Cozy with a 32" TV (no wifi) and window that opens toward the lake, no privacy door **Porch: full-size bed, which is amazing on warm nights, cool nights, rainy nights, all nights. Great napping and reading bed, too! Note: porch is screened in, so gets cool in late summer and fall. All beds freshly made with linens, blankets/ comforters, and pillows. Please note that camp is "open concept". There is a privacy door on master bedroom, but not on the bunkroom (tack up a sheet if you wish)! NOTE: no inside shower. Outside shower, only--rustic and located outside off the back. It's a fun twist and amazing on rainy days and starry nights, and everything in between. Completely private out there with just the trees surrounding the camp, nothing else in sight. Towels, dishcloths, cleaning supplies, trash bags, soaps, and shampoo/conditioner provided. We do not provide firewood for the fire pits. There is no automatic heat source (we have a woodstove to take the chill off). We also kindly ask that you be mindful of water usage as we're working off a well and septic, not city facilities. There is no Wifi, although there is great cell service, and you can connect your phone with an HDMI cord (not provided) to one of our 3 flatscreens (living room, bedroom, and bunkroom. 32-40" tvs), or hookup one of the DVD players (movies, books, games are hanging out waiting for a rainy day). Although the camp does have many amenities, this is a seasonal rustic Maine camp experience, not the Marriott. The pine countertop and flooring have a warm patina from years of use, and although thoroughly cleaned between each visit, there have been spills and marks from years of enjoyment...think of flooring-in-your-favorite-low-key-restaurant-vibe.... You will be embarking on an unpretentious Maine CAMP experience--please set expectations accordingly. I'm more than happy to answer any questions if you're not sure if our place is a good fit! **No dishwasher **No parties or gatherings, this is a family-friendly community. No additional guests allowed without previous approval of host** **No smoking on the enclosed porch or inside the camp** Guest access The entire camp and surrounding waterfront lot will be exclusively yours, along with 100' private waterfront that you see in the photos. The slope of land from camp to waterfront may be steep for some. Other things to note Parties and large gatherings are strictly prohibited. This is a family-friendly community and we have respectful relationships with our neighbors. Please help us maintain the love! No additional guests unless approved by host in advance. This area is not only home to water fun and wildlife, but there is also a unique craft beer trail all within an hour of the camp, some around the corner.
