Ideal Creative Retreat Immersed in Forest
This is an eco-friendly home, designed by a local architect using natural materials with limestone walls and floor and featuring a rammed earth wall. The house is welcoming, cozy and fresh on summer days. It's immersed in the forest in a quiet residential area and the daily sounds are the adjacent creek, birds, frogs and insects. It has a trail walking distance to Torio River and waterfall. The space Mixed use of closed spaces like bedrooms and kitchen with mosquito nets, with open living and dining area. The double terrace features an outdoor sink and serves as a multi-use space to create, dance or play. Kitchen is fully equipped for foodies and vegans with a large fridge, Vitamix blender, food processor and dehydrator. Main bedroom has a king size bed, large closet and air conditioning. Second bedroom has a double bed and single size bunk bed with a small closet, wall fan and air conditioning. There is one full bathroom with hot water and access from the outside Other things to note For nature enthusiasts and walking friendly adventures. There is a trail right across the street to access river gems and Torio Waterfall. I also recommend an energetic walk up the street/hill to access some amazing lookouts to oversee Torio's Valley and our epic sunsets. Jungle disclaimer: The house is located within the jungle, so it's normal to encounter animals, reptiles and insects. There are lizards, hummingbirds, butterflies, moths, insects and occasional visits from snakes or scorpions, which can be scary, but they can also bring great teachings, and when a calm state, they are easy to handle (we explain more in detail in the guidebook). It's not a daily occurrence, but it's important to be aware of where this house is located before booking. Rural area disclaimer: Because the house is located in a rural area, services like electrical power sometimes fail. When that happens, it either comes back in five minutes, or a couple of hours. On rare occasions it can be gone for many hours, so when this happens, the water also stops. Everything restores to normal once the power comes back. Whenever there is no electricity, for us it's a reminder to take things slow, go outside to explore, disconnect from our devices, connect with the natural cycles of life in the jungle. If you are a digital nomad seeking 100% stability in utility services, this might not be the place for you. If you need occasional services, and can be flexible, then the house's environment is very conducive to creativity. *Think artist's retreat more than co-working digital hub.*
