The island of Ambergris Caye, “La Isla Bonita”, is a popular tourist destination. You can get to San Pedro (the only town on the island) from the mainland via a 15 minute flight or a 90 minute boat trip. Casa Coccoloba is just on the southern edge of San Pedro town, so you are within easy reach of lots! The Caribbean sea is only about 350 yards away, a 5 minute walk. There are a variety of restaurants & stores within walking distance and San Pedro's Central Park, considered 'town core' (& where the water taxi docks to the mainland are located), is a mile north of the house. The San Pedro airport is less than a mile north. With the house being on the one main north/south road, you will hear golf cart traffic as they buzz along, but generally from inside the house with the windows closed, it's not disturbing. (Note the lower level bedroom would be the one most affected by street/traffic noise.) Most people rent golf carts when visiting Ambergris Caye (it’s not possible to rent a car), which we can arrange for you. Rental costs depend on the cart size (4 or 6 seater) and time of year but start at about US$75/day or US$320/week. As mentioned, there are 3 complimentary bikes available for use during the day. Taxis are also available. Please note that roads on the island are not like the paved roads you may be used to; many, such as the road by this house, have pavers rather than smooth surfaces and some roads are hard packed sand.
