Charming, fully-furnished and fully-equipped home available for rent. Prime location with views of Long Island Sound from every room! Downstairs open front porch with both lounging and dining areas. Upstairs screened in porch with hammock. Very short walk, or drive, to White Sands Beach and right down the road from the Old Lyme Beach Club. Located in a very quiet neighborhood, this home offers old-world charm while providing all the modern conveniences. All linens and towels are provided. The space Four Bedrooms, One and One-Half Baths with an Outdoor Shower. The Cottage comes fully equipped with sheets, towels, a kitchen loaded with amenities including both Keurig and drip coffee makers, an outdoor grill, and everything you need for a fun day at the beach including beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys for kids. Guest access Parking is provided for up to three cars in the driveway and one car can park in the garage. Other things to note The Cottage is close to many fun day trips, and unique shopping and dining experiences. Here are some highlights ~ Old Lyme Saturday mornings from 9 am – 12:30 pm, June 12 – October 16, check out the farmer’s market at Tiffany Farms on Sterling City Road. Freshly baked breads, cheeses, produce and fresh seafood are sold under tents in the pasture. You’re sure to find all your grocery items at Big Y on Halls Road. The Bowerbird, at the opposite end from Big Y, is a fun shop with a kid’s section and a grownup section as well! Don’t miss Treasures, across from the Big Y shopping plaza, on Halls Road. Treasures is a selective home furnishing resale store full of beautifully curated home décor. Hallmark Drive-In on Shore Road has great take-out, or eat-in on outdoor picnic tables. Their burgers and fries are always good, and check out all the homemade ice cream flavors! Old Lyme Ice Cream Shoppe on Lyme Street is not to be missed and offers award winning homemade ice cream flavors. Their signature ice cream flavor, Moroccan Rose, is sure to be your new favorite! Coffees Country Market on Boston Post Road offers delicious prepared meals and outstanding baked goods. Their mozzarella/tomato/pesto baguette sandwiches are made fresh daily and available for easy pick up at the deli counter, or order a custom breakfast sandwich from the grill. There are delicious salads to go too, and in case you forgot any essentials, the shelves are stocked with grocery items. And grab a cup of coffee while you’re at Coffees! Old Lyme Inn on Lyme Street offers live music at its Sunday Jazzy Brunch. If the weather is nice, eat outside on the patio and don’t forget to order a Bloody Mary with your Eggs Benedict! Florence Griswold Museum offers unique art exhibitions. While you’re there, have lunch on the veranda at Café Flo overlooking the Lieutenant River. Connecticut Magazine selected Café Flo for Best Outdoor Dining! East Haddam Fox Hopyard offers a private golf membership, but visitors are welcome to enjoy the course and its facilities as well. It’s restaurant, On The Rocks, is open to the public and offers both indoor dining, and outdoor dining on the veranda overlooking the course. Ray of Light Farm, at 232 Town Street, is a fun afternoon trip for the kids! The farm is an animal rescue and therapy center. Horses, goats, peacocks, and other animals are lovingly cared for at the farm. Admission is free, and donations are greatly appreciated. Gillette Castle State Park on River Road sits high above the Connecticut River. The castle itself is interesting to tour, and the grounds are great for hiking! Goodspeed Opera House offers award-winning shows in an historic opera building. Every seat in the small theater is great, and the shows are simply outstanding! After the show, walk next door to get dinner at the Gelston House. Casual dining is offered on one side, fine dining overlooks the river. Old Saybrook Johnny Ad’s on Boston Post Road is a local favorite. Try their lobster roll (hot or cold), add waffle fries and a birch beer and you’ve got a meal fit for royalty! Their hotdogs are out of this world as well. Paperback Café on Main Street is great for lunch/brunch. The vibe is laid-back and the servings are large and delicious! Fresh Salt at Saybrook Point and Marina Inn offers delicious gourmet dining indoors or outside on the porch overlooking the water. Located on Elm Street, Pasta Vita sells freshly made, pre-packaged gourmet to go. The food is truly gourmet, it is reasonably priced, and it can make your stay-at-home meals quick and delicious! Everything is excellent, from their soups, to bread pudding, to family meals, salads, and biscotti! Essex The Griswold Inn on Main Street is nostalgic. Their Sunday Hunt Breakfast (a fancy name for brunch) is not to be missed. The whole town is lovely and full of history. Great shopping is all within walking distance. While you’re there take a stroll to the end of Main Street to the river. You might see a family of ducks wading there. It’s also the perfect spot to sit and reflect by the water. Noank (next to Mystic) Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough, and Ford’s Lobster are both known for their fresh seafood, especially … lobster! Both offer outdoor picnic table dining with water views. Get there off-hours to avoid a long line. Regardless, they are both worth the wait! Mystic The Mystic Aquarium is a fun day trip with the kids. The town of Mystic itself has lots of fun shopping and all different types of dining from fancy to casual. Mystic is a lively town and the famous Mystic Pizza is located right in the center. Sift Bakery offers many delicious items, in addition to their vast selection of Macarons. You’ll want a box of their goodies to-go to enjoy on the front porch later.
