Winter Serenity on Sheepscot Lake
Bring the whole family (or two) to our lake in mid coast Maine! This year round home is in a peaceful setting yet close to coastal towns of Belfast and Camden. Enjoy a paddle around the lake with our kayaks, canoe or simply hang out on the dock. The clean lake is an angler’s dream. We are set up for the youngest (crib, toys, swings)to the oldest ( one step into first floor, bedroom directly across from bathroom). Fall and winter stays bring even more quiet and respite from the outside world. The space Our camp is steps away from the dock. There are several steps leading to the lawn from either ground level or first floor access. Unfortunately, it is not easily accessible for those with mobility issues. The upper deck and ground level screened in porch offer other guests the opportunity to view the lake. With 2 bedrooms upstairs and one on the first floor, guests have easy access to the full, first floor bathroom. Stairs from the family room down to basement level bring our guests to an in-law type setup. There’ll you’ll find a kitchenette, 3/4 bathroom, open family room area which leads to the screen room and a large bedroom that could easily accommodate an air mattress or two. *During late fall and I to the winter season, the screened in deck area is not accessible due to storage of our outdoor summer furniture, etc. In the winter we are heating the camp in several ways including the 2 renai heaters (first level and basement), electric baseboard heat in basement bedroom, first floor entryway and first floor bathroom. The family room wood stove provides an amazing amount of heat as well. (We have a wood supply ready for your use). Additional firewood is near our shed or can be purchased locally. The 2 upstairs bedrooms have new space heaters to offset the chill if needed. An AWD vehicle is suggested when accessing the camp during the winter. The private road is plowed but, depending on weather, may be challenging to navigate without AWD. Guest access Guests are free to use the camp both inside and outside, as if it was their own. We ask that you respect our request to not use the boat for anything other than sitting on it or fishing from it while docked. * during winter months, the lake ice is typically unsafe until we’ve had a number of consistent, below freezing days. (Ice fishing is not legal until Jan 1). Please use extreme caution around the lake. Ice depth should be first and foremost indicator of accessibility. (You may see snowmobiles and ice huts set up once the locals feel it’s safe). Other things to note Please note addition procedures for leaving the camp on your depart day. 1) lower renai heaters and baseboard heat to approx 62 degrees. Open all cabinets below sinks in each bathroom and each kitchen. Open electrical cabinet behind rocking chair in kitchen. Locate “water pump” and switch off. Thank you.
