Gem House is a great spot to discover all that Erie has to offer. With its proximity to Mercyhurst University, Gannon University and Penn State Behrend, Gem House is a perfect spot to stay while visiting a local student or the surrounding attractions. The house is centrally located with easy access to Presque Isle, Waldameer, the Erie Zoo, downtown Erie, and Millcreek Mall. With so much to see and do, you’ll soon see why Erie is also known as the “Gem City.” The space You will be surprised by this open Cape Code home! The dining room and living room are separated by an open wall staircase with hardwood floors in both. There is a 1st floor bedroom and bathroom plus 2 bedrooms upstairs. Built in 1952, it has all the charm of that era, but with modern elements that make it the perfect getaway. Guest access You will have access to the entire house including the basement and backyard. Other things to note Can sleep 6, but is ideal for couples, small families and a group of 3 or 4 friends. Perfect for parents visiting students in the area, visiting nurses, doctors or professors . Please note: In the spring and early summer, there are birds who try to nest near the two second floor bedroom windows. They can be quite noisy! We have earplugs available for guests in the bathroom, however, you may want to bring noise canceling headphones with you if birds chirping bothers you. We have tried moving the nest, but they always come back. We don’t want to harm the birds, so we just warn guests of the possible noise from the birds.
