We created Chicory Cottage for families, friends, and couples who desire to be minutes from all of the attractions Door County has to offer, but also long to escape to a private retreat. A word about our cleaning protocols….We have a larger family, and we stay in multiple vacation rentals a year. We know, firsthand, how the cleanliness of a rental can make or break your hard-earned vacation. Unlike most vacation rentals, at Chicory Cottage we wash/change-out all duvet covers, extra blankets, living room throw blankets, and living room throw pillow covers between every guest, in addition to all the typical bed sheets and pillowcases. We take cleaning very seriously and our process is extremely extensive because we know that your relaxation and enjoyment depends on it. Years ago, on our first trip to Kangaroo Lake, someone shared their home with us. This began our goal of creating a memorable vacation home to share the magic of Door County and the Kangaroo Lake area with others. Our home is owner-managed and cared for because we believe that you deserve the highest level of guest experience, cleanliness, and peace-of-mind during your vacation. Our standard check-in time is 4pm and standard check-out is 10am. We require a signed rental agreement, waiver of liability, and a $300 credit card security deposit hold for all bookings. The name used to book the reservation must match that on the credit card and the signed rental agreement. The rental agreement and security deposit hold must be completed within 48 hours of booking (within 24 hours if arrival date is less than 3 days from time of booking.) or the reservation will be canceled. Our home is located in a quiet community with neighbors and is geared towards quiet family vacations. Our living room is open to our kitchen and dining room. The living room is comfortable and complete with a leather sofa, three chairs, and a small writing desk. THE KITCHEN The beautifully designed kitchen has everything you need to make meals or enjoy a glass of wine on the deck. Our kitchen has new appliances, a dishwasher and is fully equipped. The dining room has a table that seats eight, and leads out to the deck through a sliding glass patio door. THE FRONT ROOM The front room is the perfect place to escape and relax indoors. Enjoy our record player and vinyl music library. Additional barware is located in the front room for evenings with friends and loved ones. THE SCREEN PORCH Our beautiful screen porch is adjacent to the front room and also exits onto our outdoor Trex deck. Our screen room and outdoor entertainment space is adjacent to a private, wooded lot. The screen porch is seasonal. THE PRIMARY BEDROOM WITH ENSUITE BATH You'll love the primary bedroom with a king sized bed, walk-in closet, smart tv, and ensuite bathroom. Our fully remodeled ensuite bath has dual vanities and a luxurious walk-in shower with a rainhead, classic, and handheld shower heads. THE SECOND KING BEDROOM Enjoy the second king bedroom with a king bed, room darkening shades and curtains, closet, and a smart tv. THE QUEEN BEDROOM The queen bedroom has a queen-sized bed, room darkening curtains, closet, and a smart tv. THE HALL BATH The newly remodeled hall bathroom has a modern tub/shower combination. THE LAUNDRY ROOM Full sized laundry machines can be found in our separate laundry room. THE GAME ROOM We thought a game room was more fun than a real garage, so that's what we did. Play bumper pool, shuffleboard, pop-a-shot, Pac-Man, or challenge someone to a friendly game of cards. The game room also has a smart TV, children's toys, a high-top table for adults and a children's table for the kids. There are also two loungers in our game room. Did we mention that vacation is more fun when everyone stays occupied, rain or shine? THE GREAT OUTDOORS Our home is just a short walk away from Kangaroo Lake public access. We are NOT direct lakefront. Enjoy exploring Kangaroo Lake on our provided paddleboards, or just stay dry and play a few yard games. Throw some steaks on the grill and create memories relaxing together around our propane fire table (Propane provided). Spend evenings making memories around our bonfire pit (two bundles of firewood and marshmallow forks provided). We supply paper products including 2 rolls of paper towels and 6 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom. We also supply hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry detergent and garbage bags. We also supply one travel size shampoo, conditioner and body wash per full bathroom. We recommend that you bring shower essentials for stays longer than two nights. Due to health and safety guidelines all pantry items must be removed between guests. Please bring cooking essentials you might need such as cooking oil/spray, aluminum foil, baggies, salt, pepper and other spices, sugar, etc. Due to Wisconsin health and safety regulations, we do not supply these items.
