Shawnee Pond Retreat is a two-bedroom countryside haven that sits on a ridge in the Shawnee National Forest. Located just outside Alto Pass near numerous vineyards, lakes and hiking trails, it is a perfect destination for friends, couples, or families. Shawnee Hills Wine Trail has 11 wineries nearby. With its impressive bluffs and spectacular trailways, Giant City State Park is just a 15-minute drive. The space You'll find that Shawnee Pond Retreat has a distinctive character all its own. Unwind in the swing on the screened-in porch with a tranquil pond view or gather around the fire pit facing the natural splendor of the forest. The well-established pond is available for fishing. The cabin has a spacious deck with a bistro table for two, another table for four, and a gas grill. The comfortable living room has over-stuffed chairs and a gas fireplace with Roku TV. The upstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed with spacious windows looking out into the forest. The downstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed. There are two full bathrooms, and the main floor bath has a small jacuzzi tub. The newly-renovated kitchen is stocked with standard appliances and kitchen tools. Older children (not toddlers or infants) are welcome, but we do not feel the house is safe for young children (stairs). ***We are pet-friendly and welcome well-behaved dogs (no cats) -but not on furniture please. A Flea and Tick prevention treatment is a must before you bring your dog(s). Dogs must be leashed outside and we prefer that you not leave your dog(s) alone or have them crated. (If you are visiting wineries, most allow leashed dogs on the outside premises.) There is a $50 fee per dog per stay. Limit of 2 dogs please. Guest access Entire space may be accessed. Other things to note This is a safe, rural area with not much traffic. Guests need to bring their own firewood; kindling can usually be found nearby.
