Charming apartment with private entrance stocked with all essentials (and a couple of extras) and dedicated workspace overlooking trees in downtown historic Fredericksburg. Enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine on the front porch. Walk to town to visit restaurants, shops, art galleries, and historic places that George Washington built. Kayak on the Rappahannock River or walk the Heritage Trail. The space Welcome to this historic home! This apartment is in downtown Fredericksburg and is nestled in a quiet neighborhood that is a few blocks walking distance to the vibrant downtown commercial scene, so you won't hear noise at night. The bedroom has a queen size bed, dresser, comfortable easy chair, and walk-in closet with extra linens and towels, and you'll find a sofa bed in the living room. Full washer/dryer inside the apartment, full kitchen with everything you could possibly need, full bathroom with tub/shower combo, very inviting front porch with rocking chairs to sit with morning coffee or glass of wine. You'll find an abundance of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, art galleries, yoga studios downtown. We even provide you with a yoga mat for your use during your stay. Visit the numerous historic sites such as George Washington's mother's house or take a trolley ride to the various places that hold historic significance. Want a quaint experience? Take a horse & carriage ride down Caroline Street, the town's main commercial street lined with coffee shops, restaurants, and eclectic shops. You are literally staying in the spot where the famous Civil War Battle of Fredericksburg took place in 1862. Also nearby is the Heritage Trail where you can jog or walk along the tree-lined canal. The Rappahannock River is two blocks away, where you can canoe or kayak. Give Virginia Outdoor Center a call for rental information. And if you are a tennis or pickleball enthusiast, nearby Kenmore Park has several beautiful FREE courts plus restrooms surrounded by trees where you can play any time before dark (see photo). Mornings and later afternoons brings lots of friendly players who will welcome you. Street parking is available, just watch for signs that say resident permit required. If you'd like to see what our town looks like, take a look at a Youtube video by the singer Huntley. He is a native Fredericksburg resident and recently won first place on The Voice! His music video "Holdin' On" was filmed all over town. The University of Mary Washington has a large cultural center with lectures, art galleries, and performances throughout the year. And the nearby Riverside Theatre for the Performing Arts is a local dinner theatre that holds popular musicals. Upon arrival, you will find a Welcome Package that provides all the information you need during your stay, such as local eateries, grocery stores, pharmacies, visitors' center, and we include a small gift for you to say "thank you" for booking with us! If you're on extended work stay, the following shows distances to hospitals and military bases, plus the local train station that services our commuter line to DC as well as Amtrak. Please note: Pets are allowed only with prior approval so please inquire. A monthly pet fee of $30 will be charged separately. Mary Washington Hospital - 1.4 miles Stafford Hospital - 9 miles Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center - 8.4 miles University of Mary Washington - 1.3 miles Quantico Marine Corps Base - 17 miles Dahlgren Base - 27 miles VRE commuter train station - .9 miles. This train runs on weekdays with endpoint being Washington DC Riverside Theater - 3.8 miles Guest access Guests have the entire apartment, plus use of the front porch. Other things to note This building is a duplex; a long-term renter lives downstairs and is away much of the time. GUESTS WITH PETS PLEASE NOTE: A pet fee of $95 is automatically charged for pets staying up to 90 nights. For longer stays, pet fee will be $30 per month.
