Located on Half Moon Pond, this 2 bedroom cottage with a loft has a queen size bed, a set of bunk beds & a full size bed. It is located on a private road near Acadia, Bar Harbor & other great day trip destinations. Activities at the lake incl. trails, fishing, 2 kayaks, swim raft, gas grill, fire pit, lawn chairs, picnic table, hammock are also included. Wi-fi, smart tvs and washer/dryer are available at no extra charge . Great swimming & safe for small children. Private and peaceful! The space The BBQ grill is in the garage. A new grease pan has been ordered and will be installed shortly. Please only use the grill directly OUTSIDE the garage and clean and put back in garage after use. The grill cannot be left outside after use. The weather in Maine can change quickly and rain will rust the metal on anything left out. Also, propane is the responsibility of the renter. If it's empty, there are local stores to fill the propane if you'll be using the grill. We do not charge for grill use, but you must use it "self-serve" style. We do not provide propane. One roll of paper towel and toilet paper will be provided per visit. Please make arrangements to go grocery shopping for supplies after your arrival. The pedal boat in the garage often fills with rain water during storms when left in the lake secured to the dock and WILL sink. If you'd like to use the pedal boat, you must carry (with a few people because it's big and heavy) it to the water and carry it back to the garage when you're done using it. It must not be left in the water. **NEW** We've installed a new Otter Island Swim Raft on the lake in front of our home. Enjoy swimming to the raft and lounging on it. NO DIVING as the water is shallow. Jumping in is okay, but no headfirst diving! Other things to note Here are some helpful suggestions of things to do during your stay to make the most of your time. Feel free to research these options ahead of time before you arrive. You can put these locations in Maps or GPS from the house. One of our favorite local towns is Belfast which is a cute, waterfront downtown about 15 minutes away. It has waterfront restaurants, shops and it overlooks the bay. We love Delvino's for dinner and the Chocolate Drop Candy Shop for dessert! For casual fare, stop for an awesome hot dog at Wasses in Belfast for lunch! There is also a Dairy Queen, McDonald's and Hannaford's in Belfast and Bucksport for bigger shopping. Local, smaller grocery shopping closer to the house is Tozier's in Searsport or Swan Lake Grocery in Swanville. A local pizza place we usually order from is Dinos in Searsport. There is a Dunkin Donuts/gas station also on Main St. in Searsport. Do you want great lobster and a cool experience? Eat at Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast overlooking the Penobscot Bay. You can choose your own lobster from their 30,000 lb aquarium. Also, check out a few fun, local things to do: Visit the Penobscot Bridge and Observatory (tallest public bridge observatory in the world) for amazing 360 degree views of Penobscot Bay, or take a drive into Searsport and head down to Mosman Park for a picnic lunch on the water. Another local option is to visit Sears Island. There are other coastal towns for a nice day trip: Heading south on Route 1--Belfast, Northport, Camden, Rockport, Rockland, Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor; Heading north on Route 1---Ellsworth, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor. For the more adventurous, travel to the great Northern Maine woods for a day (leave early it's over an hour and a half from Searsport but worth the drive), stopping at Lily Bay State Park (breathtaking views of Moosehead Lake from the beach) in the morning and then have a late lunch at Kelly's Landing and watch the float planes take off and land as you enjoy! After your late lunch/ early dinner, drive up to the logging roads in Kokadjo and wait until dusk to try catch a glimpse of a moose at Lazy Tom Bog or the Department of Transportion hub (park on side of the road) in Shirley on the way back! For the ultra-adventurous, head up to Baxter State Park/Mt. Katahdin via the Golden Rd. Be sure to fill up your gas tank in Greenville though and have a spare tire. The roads can be rough. There are no gas stations on the logging roads. It's an adventure, for sure! Oh, I almost forgot--if you just want a simple day to relax, stay home at Crescent's Nook! Rest on the hammock, fish on the pond, kayak downstream, read a good book, or enjoy the fire pit while making S'mores and listening to the loons on the pond. If you come in the fall, the foliage is spectacular! Breathe, recenter, reconnect, and don't forget to take the memories with you! Please enjoy your stay, Danny & Gigi Gallagher
